It has nothing to do with being "correct (right about something." In fact I'd say being on the Right is actually more harmful to overall human flourishing, (not saying the Left is full of saints.)

Different languages have separate words for right depending on context. It's probably just coincidence that English uses it for both directions and affirmative.

It does fit nicely with the rhyme "righty tighty lefty loosy." Which everyone sings when faced with a tight nut or screw.

Im from the Philadelphia area. If you didn't naturally go clockwise your were considered queer. I now live in Houston Texas where everyone naturally goes counter clockwise and the only thing in Texas is steers and queers.
