I feel like our society can do something about traffic, but we just choose not to
You can do something about your road rage much more easily than we as a society can eliminate traffic. Ell oh ell!
I do get road rage, but i’m better than i used to be. Much better, actually. I haven’t actually gotten out of my vehicle to fight someone in at least twenty years. I listen to comedy in my car to keep my mood light. That helps a lot. I also go out of my way to find and use lesser traveled routes. I’d much rather have a chill fifteen minute drive than a rage ridden five minutes. I also break out the Serenity prayer from time to time.
Being part of a society means putting up with other people’s sh*t. As long as driving is a money maker, and it always will be, traffic is not going anywhere. Even if everyone had the same knowledge, skill and experience, there will still be accidents. With millions of people on the roads, that’s a lot of accidents. Watch professional racing. Those drivers are literally the best of the best in the world, and there’s an accident every race! Ell oh ell!
You can’t control everyone else. Just yourself.
For me it is more frustration than anger, but I agree that it is VERY uncomfortable and distressing. I live in Los Angeles, home of the 405 Freeway, arguably the site of the worst traffic jams in the world:
"I-405, heavily traveled by both commuters and freight haulers along its entire length, is the busiest and most congested freeway in the United States. The freeway's annual average daily traffic between exits 21 and 22 in Seal Beach reached 374,000 in 2008, making it the highest count in the nation"
If I’m getting pissed at traffic, it means I’m not doing my job right. I drive for a living, we were taught the importance of not allowing yourself to road rage, even over minor inconveniences (because it’s never as big a deal as you feel like it is) because losing control over yourself puts you at that much higher of a risk. And honestly? I don’t mind traffic so much these days. You just gotta learn how to entertain yourself instead of sitting and grumbling and yelling at strangers like they have control over what’s happening.
What? You do realize that I’m a CDL driver, right? I can back up tractor-trailer combos that are 50 ft long lol. When I get off work after being on the road ALL DAY long, I don’t want to SIT in traffic. I think most people would understand that. Another thing, being a man is harder. So it’s very easy for you to be in a chill state of mind …
You lost me at “Being a man is harder”
lol.
At most? I would seriously advise you to shift your perspective. That’s the only reason you’re getting mad at things out of your control anyway
I might have a bit of an anger problem. My brain can’t relax. I have to be constantly moving
That sounds like something you can address
Only time you have to sit long here is if there's been a nasty accident up ahead. It can be frustrating but those in the accident are having a worse day.
What pisses me of is the poor road layouts that cause accidents or tailbacks. Junctions on blind bends where it's a lottery if you can get out safe, over grown vegetation blocking road signs or your view, faded white lines on roads, or confusing road markings so complicated half of drivers don't know what lane to be in.

Not really.. sitting in traffic doesn't bother me much unless my babies are in the back crying or im in a rush. If everything is fine then I just chill, listen to music, drink a coffee/tea or whatever I have that day
My car has adaptive cruise control. In heavy traffic I use the cruise control and chill out to music. All I have to do is keep the car in the lane. I don't care if it takes me half an hour to go four miles.
Only if I in the rush to get to work. Other times I just enjoy the congested traffic.
I guess I have a lot of patience when it comes to driving.
Only when I: a) have somewhere to be, b) am tired, c) have to use the toilet, or d) it’s really hot and the AC isn’t working.
They have done something. It’s called the metro.. but I don’t take it because I work late nights
Sometimes I find myself getting pretty pissed I'm stuck in traffic but I try to leave early and just turn up the music and smoke some cigarettes and have a good time while I'm sitting there like an idiot
That really depends how bad the jam is and if I have a meeting waiting.
I don’t get worked up about it, especially if I’m on track to be on time to wherever I’m going.
Generally, no, believe it or not. Unless I'm in a hurry.
I live in the countryside there's never any traffic there xD
If it's moving traffic no. But that standstill new york, Los Angeles and Atlanta, GA traffic is a turn off
when the moron in front of me is driving too slow it pisses me off.
Roundabouts decrease the likliehood of traffic. I was in the UK for close to a month. There was one traffic jam the entire time I was there.
Yes, especially if you have to be at a certain place at a certain time
I usually play music while travelling.. so yeah that takes the load off
Yes, I definitely agree with you on this, and I'm actually not a driver.
I don't get angry but we CAN do better
I guess ima' hafta' give it yeah to the hell!!
You’re not wrong.
D**N SKIPPY !!!
