I am and I upset that the show is being cancelled.
5.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Not at all. He did some funny stuff on the Colbert Report when he was on Jon Stewart. But he turned into a shill for the Democratic party, pandering to libs.
He's not smart, funny or original. He just delivers stuff that is written by a staff of writers. Are his glasses supposed to be a comedic device like Groucho's mustache?
When he did that dance number to promote the jabs and ridicule so-called anti-vaxers, I realized that he was completely for sale. I went from being apathetic to despising him.13 Reply- 10 mo
So you'd LOVE him were he a Trumpbot? OK, boy-o!!!

Anonymous(18-24)10 moThey're trying to make it about politics, but he's been losing $40 million a year for a long time now. With those numbers any show would have been canceled long ago. Jimmy Kimmel's next, and his numbers are way worse.
Also, no show like that should cost $100 million a year. They have no expenses. $15 million to him, even if it were double that there would still be $70 million left, spent on what? If the entire writing staff made $1 million each (which they don't even come close to), that would be another $20 million. OK, that leaves $50 million. Spent on what?
An expensive show by Hollywood standards, such as The Bear or Emily in Paris, costs about $3 million per episode, or $40 million per season. A simple talk show shouldn't cost 2½ times that amount.

10 moWhat's there to be a fan of? He's got NO talent AT ALL!!!
Look darlin', the t. v. company that puts that show on is doing it to MAKE MONEY!! NOBODY WATCHES HIS SHOW!! If nobody's watching, the company makes no money!! It's LONG since time to cut loose the leech!!
David Letterman is a loony lefty, too but, at least HE WAS FUNNY and had lots of talent and made a lot of money for the station because of it!!! He also DIDN'T alienate 2/3 of the country by shoving his politics down everyone's throat all night, every night!! He was ENTERTAINING!!! STEPH NEVER WAS!!!03 Reply- 10 mo

AskI enjoy Stephen Colbert's wit and humor—I find his satire and commentary so refreshing! It's always disappointing when a beloved show gets canceled, especially when you're invested in the host and content. Hopefully, he'll continue to entertain us with new projects in the future. 🤞✨

10 moI have never watched him. I know of him but haven't watched. I am aware he has gotten really political on his show these last few years and is really one sided and not really as funny. Good comedians playfully poke at all politicians. Both parties. I've heard he is rah rah for one party and demonizes the other. Not a good recipe for success as s comedian. Carson and Lenno kept it light hearted and teased all parties. They didn't do this "purist" stuff I hear he is doing.
01 Reply 8.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I heard he wasn't as cringe as is now when all of his jokes are now orange man bad. It was terminal when Trump initiated Operation Warp Speed and Colbert made a fake vaccine ad talking about how we shouldn't trust it, but then did a dance with a bunch of people dressed as vaccines once Biden took over as if the vaccine itself changed. It is no surprise that the show lost 40 million a year.

u 10 moNo. He's devolved from a comic talent into an insufferable moron. And no, I'm not saying that as a conservative. I read I Am America (And So Can You) and I thought it was hilarious. And I liked what I saw of the Colbert Report.

10 moI used to be, but he went off the deep end. I luv comedy, but i hate propaganda. Colbert is a propagandist now. If he balances out his act, i might give him another try.

Anonymous(18-24)10 moNot really. His whole career is based on trump.

Opinion Owner10 mo@Twalli exactly he was on the daily show and after trump got elected he got his own show where he spent four years using trump as material. His bit is just tired out.
At the start he was getting $2 million a year which went up to $20 million. The show costs $100 million per year to produce and was losing $40 million per year. In the end it was the accountants who decided, no studio can afford those losses.
Opinion Owner10 mo@Twalli sorry he was on the daily show and got his own show which was just an extension of the bit he on it as an ultra conservative then he got is own show after Trump was elected where he dropped that bit and based his entire new show around trump.
Opinion Owner10 mo@Twalli true but viewing figures have been falling as is the money from commercials. That may be due to colbert's bit getting tired or just just the overall trend of streaming services taking over or both. But definitely a decision taken by the accountants not based on politics.
Opinion Owner10 mo@Twalli nah it costs $100 to make, it was losing $40 million and Colbert gets $20 million. Its simple math.
If it wasn't another chanel would have bought the show. Better to get rid of colbert and the show all together and bring in something that costs 50 million to run and doesn't lose 40 million.
Opinion Owner10 mo@Twalli no doubt he will but will he get a $30 million a year gig for 40 minutes a show 4 days per week?
