Why? It would give the wrong information. Illegal immigrants still exists and if you do not take account of that fact then anything you use that number for such as city planning will fail. I dont particularly care about the politics of this question, but if you want to have a functional society then you can't have numbers that deviate that far from reality.

You may as well just go out and say that the US government has no idea whats going on within its own borders at that point.

It should include everyone, but it need subcategories for Immagrants (if they have a visa or in process of citizenship) and also illegals (not like they would actually admit to it but who knows lol)

However things that are determined by the census should only be influenced by citizens

I think you got to count all human beings here and maybe, dogs and cats. It's a count, whatever they do with that data they do with it.

It may be hard to count illegals.. why would they declare themselves? Ideally the system would handle both.

I don't like this situation of illegals and such, it's a mess. It goes against basic humanity. I understand it from a government view, but the same kind of issues were around in 0000 - 30 when a ruler declared a census and Jesus family had to go back to their home town. Not long after that, they tried to murder him... but did murder a bunch of others.

I see illegals today... migrants... living miserable lives in France. On one hand, maybe they should go back.. but whom knows their delimeas. They have nothing often, unless the state props them up... and I'm not seeing that in France. As Christian, it's clear how Jesus said to treat such people... and it has to be done at individual level with support from govt. Govt, is not doing it.

But they should be counted, they are part of the human family.

When we look, we should try to look through the eyes of those other people. We canot take all people in , but we may need to adapt more as climate change and war uproot people. Integrating people, handlign migrations, is the issue of our times and likely to become more of an issue.

It makes no sense to include those individuals illegally in any country's census, not just the USA.

No census - especially if funding based on taxpayer representation is part of the purpose of the figures - should give government representation to illegal immigrants.

Great question, Liam. I knew this one would spark controversy. Trump could easily circumvent this by ordering two censuses taken. One census would count everyone living in America legally, and the other census would count everyone living here illegally. This would satisfy the Constitution, because everyone would be counted.

Technically we already have that record. It's in the ITIN registry within the IRS. It only accounts for the working undocumented aliens though.

@Twalli i wouldn't have believed that in the past since they've been saying that for 40 years. now i do believe it. i would vote socialist or progressive over any two-party system. but those movements have to separate themselves from that two party system. without a collapse i don't see that happening. i do know that a 2 party system isn't freedom. and a trump presidency is a one party system.

I've forces this census through, it will backfire. Newsome has a bill that will pass to redraw districts if Abbot does it in Texas. Newsom can ensure every single district in California goes blue. That will at worst only match the five conservative seats from Texas. He could create more than 5 democrat seats.

Yes, illegals should be excluded. But the laws in place will block this attempt from happening. A mid decade census can’t be used to change members of congress. That is the law.
