I'm not saying you SHOULD commit a murder. And I'm not asking for hints on HOW to commit a murder. But hypothetically,

if you were going to, do you think you could get away with it?

Depends who and why. If you've got a strong motive to murder someone (a scorned lover or whatever), you're probably going to get caught. If you're some psychopath who murders indiscriminately (like the beltway sniper), it's less likely. If you murder some homeless guy or criminal lowlife, the police aren't going to bother investigating. If you murder the CEO of an insurance company or a pretty blonde girl, then they're not going to stop until someone is in jail, no matter how long it takes or how much it costs (Madeleine McCann went missing in 2011, and the police has so far spent over £13 million on the investigation).
Considering the very high percentage of murders that never get solved, it's probable that most people could commit one without getting caught.
58% in the United States, according to a quick Google search. So, almost a coin toss.
In other countries, your chances of getting away with it could be a lot better or a lot worse.
Abjectly false. “Most” people would NOT get away with it lol. Most people are idiots. Only a handful of people who know what they are doing would get away. Crime solving is a science. They can link you to the crime scene with a tiny little hair follicle on a piece of clothing not even noticeable to the human eye.
To commit a murder successfully the clean up takes more work than the actual killing itself. You can’t leave a single trace of yourself or the victim behind and you need plausible deniability in not only the form of an alibi but also in making others believe the victim didn’t die, but just left and never came back. I honestly lack the patience to kill someone successfully, let alone do all the work. If I was going to kill someone, I would have to take every cautious step I could, and the clean up itself, if I do it right, would take days at minimum unless I had access to a pig farm.
Pig farm. Interesting.
I guess that's one way to dispose of a body.
It’s cheaper than trying to fill and drain a bathtub of hydrofluoric or sulfuric acid
Yeah true. But on the other hand, would pigs eat the bones? It wouldn't do to have human bones strewn about randomly in a pig farm.
Hyenas can eat and digest bones, but I don't know about pigs.
Pigs can and will digest bone and marrow
Do you have access to a pig farm? Maybe I shouldn't ask.
You really shouldn’t lol
Before I could kill someone, I would have to be motivated, and having a motive would make me a suspect. Nevertheless, if I had a low risk of discovery opportunity, there is a 90% probability I could kill someone and get away with it, provided I didn't make an obvious mistake and refused to tell anyone or speak to the police without a lawyer.

What do you consider getting away with it? Even if you don't get caught by cops or someone you know you took a person's life and will always live knowing you are the reason someone else isn't. We get away with murder everyday when we eat but we live in a society that we don't see the cow die and get turned into a steak so we don't murder that cow. depends here what we call getting away with it. Also do you really want to be a person that can take a life and honestly be proud of it?
I think I could probably get away with it, but it's not something I've ever given much thought.
Well, that scum of the earth, Brian Kohberger, thought he got away with it. I hope they stab him to death in prison, for what he did to those young people in their sleep... What a fucking horrible excuse for a human being
Is it just killing for the sake of it or killing a specific person?
You could walk through a park at night stab a random person to death and as long as you aren't stopped at the scene or caught on camera you would likely get away with it.
Killing others isn't rational; it may be rational in some premeditated murders, but only in some of them. So much of the coercion is merely symbolic. There's no rational expectation of punishment or not.
Too many variables to give a definite answer.
Like it would be one thing to kill some common guy and another if someone with bodyguards.
A person wouldn't do it unless they are pretty sure they can get away with it.
That's where the criminal mind breaks down.
The problem with a perfect murder is you can never tell or brag about it
That would be stupid, I used to work for the government and am fingerprinted into the dept of justice database. One fingerprint and I'm fucked, so I think I'll pass on the murder business.
I am against all violence, & if I had to spend any time in jail with my mental problems I would kill my self. Dennis
I once had a plan but forensics are pretty good.
With the right amount of planning I think just about anyone could. I mean the dumbest orange man on the planet managed to murder truth...
You either need a lawyer or a therapist. Murder is caveman thinking.
So far have. A couple. Although I wouldn't say any fell under the definition of murder.
Sure, just need to find the right scum because someone beat me to the last one
Yes, I think so
Because you're super smart?
Do you have a plan? I don't want you to tell me your plan, but do you have one?
Not with Columbo on the case!!
Definitely
Absolutely not.
Largely depends.
Would depend on the context
