Why do so many people in the Entertainment Business take their own lives?

Seems to me the only ones that are more at risk are Veterans. Did you know any of these actors, or know that they took their own lives?

Probably from frustration at not becoming rich and famous. and the ones that do make it in show biz it is probably disappointing at how it is not as much fun as they thought it would be.

I think the people who struggle a bit through life have a much stronger character and are grateful for the precious time we have on this Earth.

Because celebrity life actually isn’t as great as people tend to think it is. Most celebrities have a lot weighing on their shoulders by being told what to do on a steady basis , they basically sign their life away by signing contracts and kissing their producers asses. So a lot of celebrities end up suffering from depression and mental illnesses because of all the shit they have to uphold , like their image , or what they can and cannot say in public. So most of them are controlled on a steady basis, especially if they want to receive their paycheck. So much is weighing on them to the point they end up committing suicide or overdosing on drugs. A friend of mine was an actor and he quit doing it because he said his producers and staff were complete assholes by constantly telling him what he can and cannot do , so he said Fuck this and got out of it all together , he said it wasn’t worth all the nonsense. My friend starred in some music videos and commercials , and once his contract was up he told them to fuck themselves , that it isn’t the life he wants , he said he doesn’t want to be controlled

It depends on the individual and their circumstances. Being under the celebrity umbrella can't give a catch-all answer.

With the thumbnail example, it was well known that Chester Bennington had a lot of unresolved pain from when he was abused in his youth. His financial and critical success could never overcome the emotional scars he bore.

Margot Kidder had lots of personal issues with mental health battles since she was teenager but it wasn't diagnosed until adulthood.

Everybody's case is different. I don't think their celebrity status warrants putting them in a convenient box. Their poop stinks like that of your average Joe or Jane and their reasons they decide the world is better off without them or that it solves their troubles is as individual as those average Joes or Janes who take their own lives.

There's a lot of pressure on them. Also, fans can't always separate the person from the characters. Do you know Jack Gleeson, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey? How about Joffrey Lannister, Jamie Lannister, Cersei Lannister. Those are the actors who played them. They are not the same people. Jack Gleeson is one of the nicest people ever and he quit acting because he was vilified for playing Joffrey. People have told Lena Headey they hate her, because they can't separate her from Cersei. So, there is pressure on every actor based on the roles they take, and people can't separate them. Having to be the character in some instances and themselves in other instances is not easy.

That's a lot of different people with a lot of different stories. There's probably some recurring themes like addiction issues, depression, unresolved trauma, health problems, mental health problems etc. May they rest in peace.

I'm not sure there's a higher proportion in the entertainment industry. But hey, the human experience can be tough, and tormented souls abound. So it's not surprising, really.

Probably they can’t keep up with the drug habits and they’re not working like they used to work plus they have depression and when you mix alcohol and drugs and medication you go haywire

Their whole lives are centered around garnering acceptance from other people. They pretend to be someone else so people like them. That's hiding a lot of pain of not feeling like they're adequate.
