What is the shared race/etnic name for South Asians "Hindus"?

when we say Scandinavians, Slavs, Anglo Saxons, Latinos, Turks, Arabs etc, we are talking about one race/ethnicity but 5/6/7 countries.
So, we know that Pakistan/Bangladesh and India are also in the same way one nation/one ethnicity, but what is their common shared etnic name? Hindus?

First, you should know that Hindu is not ethnicity. Hindu is primarily a religion, not an ethnic identity. People of different ethnicities in South Asia can be Hindu. For example, Hindus exist in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and even Pakistan historically, but that doesn’t make them one ethnic group.


And also ethnic/cultural grouping for India/Pakistan/Bangladesh region in this area are extremely diverse, with many ethnicities and languages. However, there is a broader historical-cultural identity sometimes referred to as “Indo-Aryan” for many North Indian, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi populations.
“Indo-Aryan” refers to a linguistic and cultural group that shares ancestry, language roots (Indo-European), and some historical traits. But it does not cover South Indian Dravidian populations.


Alternative ways people group this region, like south Asians, this is the most common modern umbrella term. It refers to people from the Indian subcontinent, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and sometimes Maldives. It’s geographic and cultural, not purely ethnic.
“Desi”, a colloquial term used within the community to refer to people from the Indian subcontinent, including India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Again, it’s more cultural/linguistic than strictly ethnic.


So the answer is, there isn’t a single “ethnic name” like “Slavs” that perfectly unites all Indians, Pakistanis, and Bangladeshis. The closest broad terms would be South Asians (geographic/cultural) or Indo-Aryan (linguistic/ancestral for some groups).

Stay away from the subcontinent is my advice to you if you are going to go round calling Pakistanis Hindus and saying it is all one country.

The partitioning of India was a blood bath. Bangladesh was East Pakistan at that time and later rebelled cause they didn't like Pakies.. (current Pakistan was west Pakistan by the way)

Southern Asians is about all you got but that could get you into trouble too. Don't group. Don't call Sikh's Hindus either. They have a dagger in their dastar/turban.

We can say "aryan" but all were actually india so "indians" is more precise for this ethnicity. Not hindu faith nor india nationality but indian ethnicity.

India works for most eras Foundations to post classical era. Definitely not Hindus. India is WAY more diverse than than in any era
