If you're in the ethic minority are you understanding when people may have trouble pronouncing your name?

This doesn’t happen only to ethnic or national minorities. We are a nation of immigrants. Most western nations are. You can be the same color as the majority, plus born and raised there, and still have a uniquely ethnic name that can be difficult to pronounce for the uninitiated.
My mother’s maiden name is actually pretty simply spelled and pronounced, but people got it wrong all the time. My uncle told us at least half a dozen hilariously ridiculous pronunciations people came up with. I also went to skool with a kid whose last name was fairly complex in spelling, but easily enough pronounced once you heard it. He lost his sh*t with a couple of substitute teachers who messed it up. Ell oh ell!

I'm not an ethnic minority but my surname (German) gives English speaking people fits all the time. There are at least 3 ways people regularly screw it up. I really don't mind. I'll respond to whatever version they can pronounce. I don't even want to expend the energy to correct them. Legal documents are another matter.

Im not in the minority but since I went to college I meet a lot of "difficult" names. Most guys are understanding, like they will make me repeat it and laugh about it. Girls on the other hand they get mad when I dont say it right

Of course. I had a former coworker who got mad every time I mispronounced her name. She would say her name, and I would repeat back to her. I said her name exactly how she just said it, but she always said I was wrong.
