It’s technically his child as well.

8 moBut it doesn't affect his body. He's not growing it. Doesn't physically affect him at all. Some women develop diabetes and high blood pressure ONLY during pregnancy. This usually means they'll have to have a C-section-- major surgery and a difficult recovery.
If we could grow embryos and fetuses in fish tanks, this might be a different discussion. But we can't. So, ultimately, it should be the person who's carrying the child's choice. It's not exactly fair to men, but having to carry babies isn't fair to women.
However, that is what we're stuck with.10 Reply

A man’s feelings matter and should be part of the conversation, but ultimately the decision rests with the woman since it’s her body, health, and life directly affected. Ideally, both partners communicate openly and respectfully, but legally and ethically the choice is hers.

Anonymous(25-29)8 moNo, it's her body, her choice. But I will say that the her body her choice thing is kind of disingenuous when you consider that 95% of abortions are done for reasons that have nothing to do with the mother's body (e. g., not being financially stable, not being in a stable relationship with the father, not wanting a child to get in the way of education or career plans, or just not being ready to be a parent). The truth is, the vast majority of abortions are women avoiding parenthood for exactly the same reasons men might want to avoid parenthood, and I think it's unfair that men do not have the same choices.

Anonymous(18-24)8 moNO, he can have an opinion on it but at the end of the day it is NOT his body. It might be his baby, but it surely ain’t his body. I’ve noticed that men have this thing regarding “spreading there seed” “continuing their legacy” that they don’t have but hey that’s all whatever.
You can have an abortion at the latest of 24 weeks, meaning you have about 20-22 weeks to see if he can actually be a FATHER. If he can’t support you emotionally during the first 5 months of the pregnancy why the hell would he support you emotionally when you have the baby?
What’s he going to do if I get the abortion for example, he ignores me emotionally and starts to pull away. Baby goes bye bye, I won’t struggle alone with a baby for 18 years being a single mother. I watched my mother do it with two kids and I’ll be damned if I do it with one. So yeah a man can have an opinion on it but at the end of the day it’s my judgement over his.05 Reply
Opinion Owner8 moAlso if he can’t even pick up the slack of me not being able to clean up as I used to before the pregnancy he won’t do it once the baby comes either, now I’d have double the load of duties while he gets to remain normal like he has no kid

Are you ok if she never tells him they she is pregnant. Then she kills the baby?
Opinion Owner8 moIf it was me and I deem him as not going to be a good father based off of his actions and care towards me I’d tell him, if he says he’s going to change I’d give it a week or two. Still no change? Baby go bye bye
Opinion Owner8 moIf it was an accidental pregnancy such as the condom broke and plan b didn’t work, no wouldn’t matter. Or if the birth control didn’t work? Still wouldn’t matter.
- 8 mo
How about just having sex with men you think are going to be good fathers? Or would that require you to have self control?
8 moUltimately, no. The woman carries a lot of risk with pregnancy that the man never has to worry about for himself. The man's thoughts and opinions should be heard but the woman should have the final say.
Along with me believing the woman has the ultimate right to terminate a pregnancy, I support the inverse that a man should be able to surrender any paternal rights or responsibilities if he doesn't want the child if the woman decides she wants to keep it.
00 ReplyHe’s welcome to his opinion. But at the end of the day it’s not affecting his body.
If he wants it and she doesn’t but she agrees to carry to term and terminate rights then fine. But it’s still her decision, and he shouldn’t expect help from her.
There’s always the option to have kids with someone else. But the best practice is wrap it before you tap it. Or in the words of Kip Kroker no glove no love.00 Reply- 2.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
8 moAn man should have input to the decision. He should be informed. But ultimately, it's not his body, he isn't taking the risk, and frankly men have a horrible track record when it comes to supporting a child born out of wedlock. So no, he doesn't get to make the decision. Look, this is never a high point in the life of anyone involved. You caused this. You live with the decision. For the rest of your life. Maybe you learn from it. Maybe you don't.

8 moNo. Unless they are married and the woman is incapacitated, the man should not have the right to choose whether or not the woman undergoes any medical procedure.
Should they both ideally discuss and agree on the decision? Yes. Of course! But when that doesn't happen, obviously the woman should have the right to choose for herself. It is her body that the child is inside. Any decision for the child at this point, it must go through her.
00 ReplyThat's a hard question I really got options on both sides really its her body therefore her decision but on the other side if you are a young couple this is a life altering decision my wife and I waited a long time before having kids 11 years together and married for 3 before having our only kid iam glad we waited and didn't have one at 20 we got to live free of that responsibility until we were ready

They are house husbands/stay at home dads, and the wife works for their living.
4.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I think he should be able to opt out of parenthood if he wants an abortion and she doesn't. It would be closest to having equal rights. If a female can choose to kill the baby or not then the father should also have the right to opt out. I do not think he should be able to force someone to have an abortion though. That is why opting out of parenthood is the closest to being equals.
00 ReplyI don't think so. The man doesn't have to carry it for 9 months.
The only debate I have in the matter is if the woman wants to keep and the man doesn't, the responsibility of looking after the kid should be solely the woman's.00 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)8 moThe mother should consult with the father, but the ultimate choice should be hers.
Having said that, men should have the legal right to a "financial abortion", which means they absolve themselves of all of the responsibilities (and rights) of fatherhood. It's barbaric that in 2025 that is still not the case.
00 Reply5.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No. He certainly has a right to express his opinion. But the final decision is entirely up to her. She is an autonomous person and it's her body.
00 ReplyIt's her body, not his I don't think that he can force her to carry his baby for 9 months, but he could help make abortions illegal or he could leave her for having an abortion.
00 Replymaybe or maybe not.
but woman should not expect anything from him unless he wants to since if the decision is all woman's right then so does the entire responsibility.
00 Reply1.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It takes two. If he can't have any say in keeping the baby then she shouldn't be able to force him to support her if she chooses to keep it.
Equality has it's drawbacks.00 Reply
8 moIf they are not married then no. But if thats the way of things if you dont tell him your pregnant while you are then he's not responsible to supply financial support.
8 moYes. Because it's our responsibility to enforce the the laws. Women have two choices. Keep the authority and the responsibility that comes with it. Or, give up authority and share the responsibility with the father. It really is that simple.

00 Reply It's a woman's decision in the end it's her body she has to deal with the pain and guilt politics and religion should have nothing to do with it a man can give his opinion but that's it

Anonymous(18-24)8 moI believe that if men had thd right to abort themselves from child support the amount of "unplanned" pregnancies would drop by 90%.
00 Reply1.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No. Just whether he'll pay child support or not within the same time frame as where a woman can choose whether she aborts it or not.
