Do you think this lady was unhinged, or should my mom have kept her mouth shut?

Me, my mom, and sister went to a garage sale yesterday. We were talking to the home owner who was sitting there when this lady pulled in, and walked up without saying a word. My moms works at a school, and they are going to have a Disney day and my mom sees a Disney hat the guy us selling. The lady goes "you know they are boycotting Disney, because of what Kimmel said about kirk". My mom said "maybe Kimmel should have kept his mouth shut" I can't remember exactly what the lady said, but she said something like "you people are so racist! Why dont you go across the street with the rest of the racists! (There was a band playing or something at the football field) Kimmel has free speech!". My mom just stood there in silence as the lady stormed off and drove away. I'm sort of a centrist, and try to see both sides, and I feel like both my mom, and the lady should have just kept to themselves.
