The South Carolina Senate Bill 323 would create a total abortion ban with almost no exceptions. It would equate abortion with homicide, and it would make it a felony to provide information about obtaining an abortion via the phone or internet. By changing the definition of legal contraceptive and adding a new definition of "human embryo," the bill would also open the door for new restrictions on currently available methods of birth control and family planning.

I think this is so fucked up. I have pcos and I know many women who have pcos who need to be on birth control to help with regulating their periods.

This also means no plan b to prevent getting pregnant which I take when I'm sexually active.

I also think it's fucked up because girls and women who get raped and become pregnant can't get an abortion. Some young girls are raped by family members and become pregnant.

This bill is despicable.

Since when did women have a Right to abortion anywhere in America. The Declaration of Independence say the following:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Being that the United States of America was founded on Judeo-Christian morality, and God is the one that endows us with unalienable Rights, you have to look to the Bible for the Law.

Americans have a Right to Life and by default Murder is Illegal. This is further backed up by manuscripts like the Didache in Christianity which states in Chapter 2

"You shall not commit murder... you shall not murder a child by abortion nor kill that which is born."

I don't know how it could be anymore clear. You don't have a Right to abortion in America. Americans have a Right to Life. The Constitution of the United States was designed to limit the power of the federal government when governing a people that already had God given Rights. The Fifth Amendment to the Constitution specifically states that Americans

"... can not be deprived of Life, liberty, or property, without due process of law."

That means the Federal government can't take part in the arbitrary denial of Life. The government can't fund abortions, they can't make laws condoning abortion, they can't employ doctors that carry out abortion, and so on. It would be constitutionally illegal. The South Carolina Constitution also echos this sentiment in Article I, Section 3 in the Declaration of Rights.

"Privileges and immunities; due process; equal protection of laws. The privileges and immunities of citizens of this State and of the United States under this Constitution
shall not be abridged, nor shall any person be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law, nor shall any person be denied the equal protection of the laws."

Here is how I approach something I have never hear of before (I'm pro-abortion by the way). The claim: Bill 323 is taking away women's rights.

Okay, I'll start with an internet search... oh damn... too much hatred for this bill with a general search, to not make me sceptical. I looked over the bill and most of everything ultra bad was already crossed out in February, so they're still modifying this bill. They started the bill out with changes to definitions (semantics) and protections for pregnant mothers... then as always, the horse shit is in the back end.

The part about protecting pregnant women against an abortion unless she consents makes sense to me, like no more just doing it when ever they want. For instance if the minor wants to keep the rape baby, she can instead of Mom and Dad getting to decide for her... I consider that pro-choice af. But then it gets into the horse shit...

Everything at the back end of this bill reads like it was written by a mega religious group that values a fetus more than the situation of the mother or how that fetus was made. Eliminating the whole choice factor for the would be mother with a rape baby for instance is a bit too insane even for most religious people.

Yeah fuck this Bill. It's in Committee right now (SC Senate) and I don't know how religulous SC is, but I doubt like something like this would get passed. This begs me to question though, what is a bill like this being made in response to?

For instance, when Roe V. Wade had to be shut down, it was in response to the Democrats using it to push...

1) Tax payers to pay for it

2) Abortions even after birth

And the obvious solution for the federal government was to kick it back to the states completely. Kicking it back to the states never would've been a thing if the progressives didn't keep pushing for federal money to pay for it and absurd "rights" to kill more than just a fetus, but actual kids.

So yeah, I think the bill is fucked, but I'm curious now what the bill is in response to? I'm guessing someone started trying to make the state government pay for the abortions, but I'm not from SC, and don't give enough of a shit to find out. The line crossed is usually when they start trying to force tax payers to pay for something they don't agree with doing. Then you get these extreme proposals in the opposite direction as a result.

Maybe someone from SC can tell me if that was the case here too?

I may be pro-abortion, but I'm not pro-"make everyone pay for your abortions." Buy your own abortions and stop trying to get tax payers to buy it for you. I think this bill though is a gross over reaction even if that's the case though. I could be wrong about that assumption and this is just a case of fetus rights gone wild i. e. "Oh, the poor rape baby didn't choose to be a rape baby... so Mom can't abort the rape baby," type of logic here.

I disagree with it. I live in NC so this hits close to home. I don't think it's anyone's place to say if anyone else should or shouldn't be able to have an abortion... life is what you make it and if a person makes a life and feels they can't do the best for that life they shouldn't be stuck with it. I think abortion is fine as long as the mother is of sound mind and its very early in the pregnancy. No one with truly good intentions wants to take a life... if any person wants to kill a kid we have bigger problems to worry about. I can understand not being ready and wanting an abortion. But I also would only ever be able to make that mistake once and it would stay with me forever... I think this law is for people that have no conscience. People Not having a conscience is the real problem in my opinion. I hate it takes laws to try to fix those few people. It hurts everyone.

Good. Women don't get any sympathy from me. They deserve to be locked up for many things. FYI, barely over 300 pregnancies are from r@p3 each year, but there are over 640,000 abortions. MANY women are murderers and need to be charged for it.

Women that commit paternity fraud also need to be charged with child abuse, spousal abuse, and fraud too and spend years in prison equal to the number of years they lied about it AND pay back ALL expenses the man paid for during those years too.

Women that lie about r@p3 need the maximum prison sentence that the man could have got if convicted.

Yeah, modern women are obsessed with getting out of reproduction. That basically is the ONLY reason sex exists. We are so wired to want to do it because reproduction is that crucial to the species.

Abortion, like a Driver's License, is not a right and is not covered by the US Constitution.

Senate Bill 323 has not become law. It is currently under consideration by the South Carolina Senate Medical Affairs subcommittee, with a public hearing that was scheduled for October 1, 2025. As of now, there has been no vote taken on the bill, and it remains in the legislative process.

The parts I have read seem excessive on birth control methods where conception has not occurred. I think it will be amended before it becomes law. Even if it becomes law, the Georgia and North Carolina state lines are nearby

I strongly disagree with the components of the bill that limit availability of birth control. The biggest reason there are so many abortions is because people don't use birth control.

Abortion has been abused over the last 50 years. Abortion IS homicide, and using it as a form of after-the-fact birth control is wrong. Studies consistently show that is exactly how it was used in 95% of abortions over the last 5 decades.

Abortion should be a legal options in cases of rape, incest, unplanned underage pregnancies, and when the mother's health or life is in jeopardy. That's it.

There isn’t a single rational argument for pregnancy control as a “necessity”.

That's why the decision was moved from the federal government to the states, because the people of each state have different standards. If you don't like the laws of a certain state you are free to move to another state, or vote for people who pass laws you agree with. That's the way it's supposed to work under the Constitution. People in one state aren't supposed to be subject to political pressures from people in other states.

First... you said a few different things here...1- "... a total abortion ban with almost no exceptions." This statement is already contradictory. If there are ANY exceptions... the ban isn't total. 2- "... girls and women who get raped and become pregnant can't get an abortion." This hearkens back to the same previous statement. If there are exceptions it would seem that this would be among them. My final thought on the matter is this... if you have, at any point in time, complained about threats to democracy then you need to STFU about new laws that you don't like as they have become such by the will of a majority of the citizens. That is the very definition of democracy.

My belief is that abortion should not be used as a form of birth control. I am not generalizing here when I say that some girls have had an abortion and two months later are asking if they can have another so soon.
I do not believe that birth control is only the woman’s responsibility. I believe that it is also the man’s responsibility. And if baby’s are having babies then their parents are just as much to blame.
