Why do people say suicide is a cowardly act?

Ending it all to avoid the consequences of tomorrow. Now you're throwing all responsibility to someone else.

Euthanasia or end of life care is a completely different ball game. Played my cards the best I can and it's time to call it. With a game plan with legal experts and talking to your family.

Suicide is just flipping the table over and walking away. Someone else is cleaning up the mess. Even dealing with an unexpected accidental death is a nightmare and a half but that's life. It's manageable because the person had some level of plan living with it before the death happened and you too can make it through step by step with the level of grief. We have to do this together in a way.

Suiside is a complete shutdown of any and all humanity.

I think that's far too harsh. I think it's an act of despair, in general. You feel that life isn't worth living, no one loves you enough to make you want to stay, you can't see any future or happiness ahead.

Now, some suicides are "fuck you" messages. The "when I kill myself, they'll all be sorry," idea. And there are dozens of reasons why someone is so angry at life, their fate and the world that they want to check out.

But, most suicides are acts of someone who is severely depressed and not rational about the fact that depression can be lifted through therapy, medication or even new versions of shock treatment that "reset" the brain back to normal in severe cases.

The life force is incredibly strong in humans, so it takes a lot of strength to kill yourself. But what I'd say is that it's an incredibly sad act, because life is so wonderful, and even if you're struggling, there is always hope and possibility for better times.

When a person cannot see or imagine this, cowardice is not the issue. Despair is.

Some people look at it as an easy way to avoid the consequences of their actions. Like some people commit horrible acts against children, or masses of people and then kill themselves afterwards… because living with the guilt and consequences is harder to do.

of course not all cases of suicide are like that.

Everyone is selfish and personalizes. They think..."what could I have done, what did I do wrong" and are left with dangling strings. It's the dangling strings that are the problem.

As well, they now feel alone.

People are kinda whacky... they might ignore someone or even torture them towards death but when they die, they are upset. The issue is selfishness.

When someone says grow up they are saying take responsibility. Suicide is like saying it's easier to give up on yourself then take responsibility for yourself. It's being afraid of yourself... im not sure but i think thats like the definition of cowardly.

Because they have never been in a mental state that is so low that you will consider suïcide. They can't relate and they only think about the people that will mourn you when you commit suïcide because your own death definitly traumatises some people that really love you for life

Because they are trying to dissuade people from doing it. From there perspective, instead of doing the "brave" thing and picking your self up by your boot straps, you are running from your problems.

Because they don't understand things that are completely beyond their comprehension. In other words, they don't know what they are talking about.

Because it solves nothing and only makes one person feel better before they panic and try to make it stop but do not succeed.

Because they've never been there. They've never gone through it and it's usually not as cut and dry as they like to think.

It's not cowardly, but it really is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I understand though, because I am myself tired of being alone and unwanted, I want the emotional pain to end.
