Afford to? I think that's literally what the majority of people do 24/7.

I wish it wasn't that way and I wish that society was a place of pursuing passions rather than monetary gains, but sadly, that's the way it is for now

However, most people won't bother to chase the status, they have other things to do.

Nope. When workers receive slave and poverty wages, while being legally exploited to the highest degree, no one can chase that. The problem is the large conglomerates and corporations not being limited to where they can't just keep the inflated prices, when inflation has come down, the over-monopolization, allowing shell companies, allowing company owners to have more than 3 sub-companies, and merging with more than 5 companies. The large companies & conglomerates have way too much control the society, and they are destroying the economy.

We can't afford to chase anything. The chase is the problem. When i accepted we live in a material world where everyone strives to be the best, it allowed me to ask why I wanted those things in the first place. Then I realized I could do anything I wanted... all I had to do was do what I wanted instead of what someone else wanted me to do... all I had to do was trust myself instead of chase what everyone else made me think was important.

True survival, fulfillment, n influence come from clarity, wisdom, n self mastery, not logos on your clothes or numbers in your bank..

The world rewards those who know their value, control their energy, n create impact, not those who simply accumulate for show..

Focus on what elevates your life, not what impresses others..

Did we ever live in that world? I think we all have to work together ultimately. The every man for himself model will never work over the long run. So status and the pursuit of stuff is ultimately a dead end.
