So far as a one off statement I agree... But what if she spends weeks just exaggerating every story going on a campaign that's obviously meant to damage your social status?

You have to prove that there was material damage to your reputation. That’s harder to do than you think. Especially if you date women. Every court in western civilization favors women over men. Unless her nonsense completely ruins your life, you’re better off ignoring her and simply living your life in a way that everyone who knows you can plainly see she’s just being vindictive.
