Do you think it sounds normal to not really be upset when elderly people die?

I remember earlier this year my mother told me her brother recently rang her to tell her that their aunty died. She was 96 years old.
My mother wasn’t celebrating her death but she didn’t really look that upset. I’m just assuming since her aunt lived such as long life it was easy for her to accept her passing.

Normal. My great aunt was going through some medical issues and her youngest daughter who was her care taker had a frank conversation with me. Things are not getting better till it's over. You have been preparing it and it's time to step up.

It's when so many things are juggling in the air and your so focused looking up. Then when the rug gets pulled under your feet when someone unexpectedly dies. That's when you need to curl up and need to sob uncontrollably.

In a way it's expected for the younger generation to bury the older. I do find comfort in that sentiment. Both my parents died young and an emotional toll but it's better then them burying me. Took a few years but I did stop thinking about it. I don't expect the same can be said if the roles was reversed.

That's totally normal. My mother died two months after a cancer diagnosis. I knew it was coming, and coming soon. I saw her a couple of times. The second time she went into hospice and died within a week. I had already done all the mourning, and I was glad it was over.

They probably weren’t very close, which is why she wasn’t very affected. It’ll be different with someone else like her mother.

I know somebody whose father lived to be 104 years old. He died an she said God did him no favors having him live that long.
