Since the vast majority of New York City residents are either wealthy liberals or lifetime welfare cheats it might be a statistical anomaly but it might be a nationwide phenomenon which would suggest the majority of crazy people hate President Trump.

You DO realize that not everyone in NYC goes to the guy, nor are his patients a random sample - his patients are going to be people who have severe enough problems to go to a psychiatrist.

That said, it's no surprise that in areas that lean far left that TDS is going to be much more common, and it's going to be much less common in places that don't. TDS is common in the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia, and among the journalists in the western world (who overwhelmingly lean left), but I wouldn't call it "worldwide." There are many countries that absolutely LOVE Trump.

That said, a lot of people with TDS were actually performative - they acted that way not because they truly agreed, but because that was how you get status and show virtue in far-left social circles. Many of those people have given up, finally figuring out that their TDS doesn't actually convince anyone or get them anywhere. All the TDS couldn't prevent Trump from winning a second term.

But there are also "true believers" - people who gulped down the Kool-Aid and have made TDS the center of their lives, and who will believe any bad thing anyone writes or says about Trump without any evidence at all, because it's what they want to believe. And these people simply cannot handle the reality that he won, and still enjoys broad support, so it's no wonder why many of them seek psychiatric treatment. Trump being re-elected shattered their whole world, and every new win causes a new mental break for them.

Well, it bears remembering that psychology is a soft science. The perfect playground for people to twist “empirical evidence” to suit their sociopolitical narratives.
That said, TDS is very real even if not yet recognized by psychologists and psychiatrists. No pathology has ever always been recognized. Unfortunately, the modern left LOVES the willy nilly nature of the soft sciences and how they can so easily manipulate them. More importantly how easily they can manipulate the soft brained lefties who will believe any nonsense that aligns with the preconceived notions of their agenda. That’s not how the scientific method works. Psychology is a field dominated by liberals. So TDS will likely never be recognized clinically.
That’s okay. If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck and acts like a duck, it’s probably a duck. I, for one, don’t need a quack with a degree to confirm simple facts like that for me.
It’s not like there’s a shortage of whackos on the other side. We in the US are doing a loathsome job of recognizing and treating mental illness of every kind. Why would we now? Anything and everything can be politicized for leverage in the media and at the polls. Politicization translates to power and ineffective drug therapies translate to wealth. That’s the American way!

Thank you for inviting me to share but I'm really not sure. I personally suspect derangement in any form is connected to big cities in any form.

I mean what else can explain people living/working in little cubicles and never looking up to see or feel the sun or the rain on their face? Never taking a quiet enough moment to hear the soft breeze or the lull of the crickets on a gentle summer night? How can you walk by hundreds of people every day and not even know their names or take a moment to give even a smile?

I suspect it's some type of derangement.

To put it in perspective:

1. Most people in NYC are not in psychotherapy. Perhaps more of them SHOULD be, but the vast majority are not.

2. This guy, if he is extremely busy, should not have more than 250-300 patients at one time. That means 200-240 of his patients have TDS.

3. There is no reason to assume that every other psychotherapist in NYC is having the same experience.

4. The population of the greater metropolitan NYC area is estimated to be around 21,000,000 at present.
