I don't see why I should get along with these types of people?

I live in an extremely "diverse" city in Canada, and over the years, it's been filled to the brim with newcomers who don't make any effort to be a part of the culture here. I've tried getting along with them but they stick with their own. I've even gone out with some of their women (eg. they're from India, China, the Middle East, etc) but it's so hard to communicate with them cause often their English is pretty terrible and they come from an oppressed culture.

Is there even a point of trying to be nice to these people? Cause I don't see one.

I get where the frustration comes from, but I see it differently.

People who move to a new country are usually trying to rebuild their whole life from zero, new language, new systems, new social rules.

Most of them stick to their own at first because it’s the only place that feels familiar.

You don’t have to force connections with people you don’t vibe with,
but writing them off entirely closes the door on a lot of good humans.

Being decent doesn’t cost anything, and sometimes the people you think you’ll never relate to end up surprising you.

You don't have to date them or befriend them if you find too many cultural differences or don't feel the vibe, but it doesn't hurt to be polite. I'm nice to anyone regardless of their nationality, age, or race, even if I don't think we could be friends or good friends. The point is just to not make people feel like you dislike them for no reason.

They way they assimilate is by interacting with native Canadians (or whatever). The more you isolate and exclude them the slower the melting pot does its thing.
