What do you guys think about gender reveal parties. And is it only an American thing?

I live in Canada and I've never seen anyone do this. I've seen baby showers ans whatever yea. But the gender reveal parties are kind of weird. How do you guys feel about it?

It is an elaborate means of trying to make something more complicated than it needs to be. It is similar to a bride-to-be taking her bridesmaids to Las Vegas for a long weekend, another over-the-top unnecessary adventure.

I agree its unnecessary and to be dramatic for no reason. And I've seen either the mom lr dad get upset at what gender the baby is which is weird

I think the whole thing's pretty stupid! In the first place, when you take those kinds of pictures of the kid, you have no idea how much damage that radiation is doing to them!!
I'm in NO HURRY to find out!!! It'll become quite obvious once the little ankle bitter comes slipping out of the chute!!

It’s a reason to celebrate. Pregnancy is hell on earth in its own way beyond birth, which is why I’ll never get pregnant willingly. If you have to suffer through that for 9-10 months, I would take any opportunity for a good distraction to take my mind off of it

I see where your coming from. But why not just have a party instead? Or do something with your partner and friends. I've just seen many videos where parents looked upset because they didn't get the gender they wanted and thats weird

Honestly, if that’s what breaks up the relationship then better it happens now than later. Besides, a majority of “gender reveal” parties are actually very happy occasions, the more viral ones are not, for obvious reasons. Maybe you just have a skewed idea of it because you’ve mainly seen shitty reactions

I live in Canada and all my kids and their friends have them. I don't know when it started by it seems recent.

never seen one, weird. it all started with the rocky horror picture show and went down hill since then.

It's probably all due to USA consuming too much plastic and messing up our hormones. Or maybe we are just crazy.
