Why do Western people sound so robotic and cold?

When i try to talk to western people here, they sound very cold and robotic to me.

I am from somewhere in the mediterranian countries.

Sometimes I doubt, maybe my English is bad and they don't want to talk to me? In my culture and language, people are very warm and always talk to each other like they know each other very well.

Or is it really the Western culture? Especially Western Europe and the US people.

Americans are known to be chatty and open. Many europeans, especially eastern and northern, are known to be reserved. It’s a cultural thing. The idea is you should respect other peoples space and leave them alone. They’re not cold to people they care about or in situations where it’s expected to talk to each other and they want to get to know you (for example a party and you interest them, or at school and they want to make friends). People like for example you/people from your culture who approach and talk to them like you do in your culture come across as too much, fake and annoying because they don’t know you. Worst case scenario they think you’re creepy or trying to sell them something, because basically that’s almost the only reason people approach or talk to strangers like that in their culture. Either you’re selling something (or trying to scam them) or you’re a weirdo who might kill them (I’m exaggerating now, but yeah you get the idea).

It depends on the culture of the western people. If you are more rural or in the Midwest of the United States for example people will be "warmer" than in a city or on the coasts.

American English is not an emotional language the Mediterranean Romance Languages. Our language tends to be dry and literal.

No, I’m American. My geography skills are nonexistent because nobody teaches it anymore
