Why are Western people talking like senseless robots and merciless monsters?

There is a big tragedy in Turkey now and at least 300.000+ people are killed in this earthquake. But i see mostly western people write something like "I don't care at all" type of comments on these kind of earthquake questions and topics. If you do this in Turkey, the society would beat the fuck out of you. But even here on GAG, there are a lot of people who say they don't give a damn about this tragedy. How can you say these kind of things on a big sad tragedy like this? Millions of people lost someone valuable in just a few minutes.

This is so inhumane. I thought Western people were mostly good too. But from now on, my thoughts are completely changed.

What happened in Turkey is tragic, but getting mad at the "West" for not appearing to care isn't much better, dude. Natural disasters happen all over the world and bad shit happens daily. We can look at what is going on with Russia and Ukraine, civil wars between tribes in Africa that result in genocide, etc. Different countries, different problems.

People are more focused on their immediate lives and their business than with something like this because they have no direct investment in it. So when they say they don't care, it is an honest answer. Why should they feel obliged to care about people they don't know or help them?

Can I be sympathetic to the victims? Sure, but ultimately I don't feel authentic saying I want to help or feel obliged to be a humanitarian and fly over to help either, because I don't. No hate, just honest. It sucks what happened, but these things have been happening forever in a day. Take the U. S. Do you personally care when we have a EF5 tornado that wipes a town off the map in the Midwest? Do you care when Florida gets swamped by hurricanes and people die from flooding?

Okay, i will be honest here. If even a billion people dead because of pandemic, that would not directly harm you or me, unless we have family members who are dead in that incident directly, however, i would still say that "i am so sad, and rest in peace to them, and hopefully there will be no any other deaths". But if i say "fuck all them, i don't give a fuck about them", that is just inhumane. And many people say these kind of things nowadays.

Well, that's the thing. There are many Americans here at GaG who are social outcasts and misfits. And because they do not fit in with regular society, they have grown bitter and angry. And these bitter angry people do their best to spread that bitterness.

They make up excuses like. . . this behavior is just being realistic. Or it is being "Conservative". I just want to say. Real Conservatism is hopeful, it is positive and it speaks to the best in people. So when you hear these people say that, they are lying.

The problem with racist and racism, isn't that they are morally wrong. I don't expect for these people to have human feelings or emotions. The problem is they have adopted a belief system that says everyone must embrace the vitriolic hatred that forms the basis of their cult. And anyone who rejects their insanity is the enemy.

That includes everyone on this planet. They are who ISIS wanted to be. They are totally fatalistic and totalitarian in their view of the world.

The rest of the world needs to be wary of the United States. Because right now, we are stone's throw away from becoming the new Nazis.

That's because it didn't happen in their countries or in their continents. Many westerns see non-western people as inferior or worthless. So unfortunately their behavior doesn't surprise me. Why do you think that they're worried about Ukraine? It's because Ukrainians are European. Afghans, Syrians, the South Sudanese, Ethiopians, the Yemeni, Iranians, the Turkish and many other people are suffering, they also need help but westerns don't care because they're not western. It really bothers me and makes me angry, but it doesn't shock me anymore.

I think you are the one who is being unreasonable here. Disasters happens every day on earth. There is always someone who loses someone in a tragic way. There are for example like just short of 50 ongoing wars right now around the world with millions upon millions of people dying in them and I am positive that you can probably only name like 3 of them at most.

Tragedies are not entitled to our attention, if they were then we would scarcely do anything buy grieve. The earthquake in Turkey does not make it special over any other disaster, manmade or otherwise.

Okay, how about this.. Would you care if some disaster happened in the US for example? Probably not... I don't have t. v. or newspapers so, I'm just hearing about this! I did here 2 or 3 days ago that there was one New York. Quite possibly, they were both connected. Apparently, no one in NY was hurt or killed. It's, obviously, poibntless to say that I hope no one in Turkey was hurt because, they, obviously, were! I have a friend or two over there and at least hope they didn't get hurt. I also hhave someone I love a LOT in Bulgaria and hope she and her kids didn't get hurt by any of that! same goes for anyone else in that general area.

Like Joseph Stalin said, "One life is a tragedy, one million is a statistic." People are often desensitized after hearing about tragedies all the time on the news. It's rather understandable to see things like war, earthquakes, tornadoes, mass shootings, etc all the time and become rather uncaring.
