How many people on here have friends across the aisle and debate politics openly?

I’m a Trump supporter and I am not shy about it, but the majority of my friends are openly democrat and don’t like Trump. We debate politics and argue, but we’re still great friends.

Well they'd have to be smart but oddly enough I have never met a smart trump supporter, they're smart people who liked maybe one thing about trump but support?
And maybe they voted for him cause out of him or Harris well they found the Turd Sandwich the better option but it's not because they support him.

Reasonable smart people tend to realize both options are bad but who knows maybe I'm missing something and trump supporters are pure genius for following the dude and buying trumpcoins was their best investment they ever made.

Here's what talking to a Trump supporter is like:

* Trumper: When will I ever have a use for long division?
* Asker: Um, that's not long division, that's geometry
* Trumper: I know a lot about trees. No one knows more about trees than I do. Did you know there are lots of trees in a forest?

And those are the smart ones.

I am not "friends" with anyone who openly supports Trump or the current GOP. I have acquaintances who do, but we are not friends.

It stopped being an "across the aisle" experience years ago. It stopped being 2 different parties who were trying to do the best for the American people but approaching it differently, years ago. Now it's identity politics, and that was by your party's design. And the last thing I will ever identify with in my life, is what the GOP, Trump and P-2025 are doing now.

We're not friends. The only "middle ground" is you back off and stop trying to make everyone belief what you believe, and live under rules you make.

I’m pretty liberal, and one of my best friends is much more conservative than I am. He’s Canadian, I’m not, we both agree that Trump sucks but we don’t agree on everything. He loves conflict too, so we have polite arguments often where we both express how we feel and think on different topics and respect each other’s values.

oddly enough all my friends are big Trump supporters. Most are in the trades or law enforcement. Maybe that is why. I teach at a state college and I know that I have a big target on my back because I support out president. Most people will not talk to me.

i wanna say in university you learn to discuss topics on a level besides of your personal ego. so you don't feel attacked personally when someone attacks your argument. you conceptualize the topic at hand as something outside of you not within you... but having been to university myself, i know a lot of the dunces running around there don't get that either, which is sad but it is what it is.

I do have friends on the left, the right... centre, and independent

but I don't really "debate" politics with any of them... we very much rather be happier and enjoy life... lol

Actually, I DO have another one but, we don't really talk politics, much. We mostly talk records. But, he's never been here so, that lets him out, again.

Most people i know are fairly moderate. The right and more so the left are primarily made up of extremists now.
