Physical harm is the least painful part; the real pain comes from humiliation, from being attacked, and from the psychological suffering caused by the other person’s violation of personal boundaries. Physical pain may fade in a short time, but the mental distress created by humiliation can last for years. And the critical point is this: this humiliation is experienced equally by women and men because they are human beings—indeed, it may even be experienced more intensely by men. In this context, a woman hitting a man is not even slightly more innocent than a man hitting a woman.

Yes. Women can’t really hurt a guy. They have beat on me for fun and even when angry, they don’t hurt. When I was 19 I invited an angry girlfriend to hit me in my stomach as hard as she could. She did and then like a comedy movie, 3 seconds later she held her wrist and complained to me that it really hurt her for which she blamed me. She then exclaimed in a moment of complete clarity in a busy McDonalds that “we can’t hurt you”, meaning women can’t hurt men. She was originally mad because I picked her up and swung her around a bit. I was happy and just goofing off. She told me to put her down and the she was “not a toy!”.

More innocent? There's nothing innocent about whacking another person no matter who is doing the whacking. But I do think men should try to use restraint in response to a smaller, lighter, weaker female taking a shot at their face. No free pass. Disable her, subdue her. Put an end to it fast. But try not to do any lasting damage.

My one exception is fat, entitled, loudmouthed Karens. Knock them the fuck out every time.

I will never hit someone first, but I will hit back, I don't care who they are. The exception is if I'm in a setting where the kid doesn't know better (like special needs or very young). As an adult, I don't care if you still don't know better (you've been alive long enough to learn).

No, I don't think the woman is more innocent and in fact women hitting men can do a lot of damage. That being said, women who assault men are often not prosecuted at all or even arrested for the most part. Men. On the other hand, who even make a woman uncomfortable without even touching her, get arrested and prosecuted very often. This has a lot to do with why men don't date women in this country anymore.

It is still intimate partner violence. Aside from that women are foolish to think they can use physical violence without eventual response by a man. Every body can be pushed into a defensive response.
