Why should men marry if they don't want to raise children?

Statistically 50% of marriages end in divorce and 80% of divorce actions are filed by women. That means there is a 40% likelihood she will divorce you and disembowel you financially. Those are worse odds than of driving by an IED in Afghanistan. Cohabitation is a better choice nowadays. Ain't love grand?

I wouldn't advocate marriage if you don't want kids. I also don't think you should look closely at the cohabitation laws before you do that because some states consider couples married after a year of living together. Never move someone in without protecting your assets because you don't need to be married to lose half your stuff in a breakup.

Cohabitation isn’t a solution. With the decline of marriage, more jurisdictions are enforcing common law marriage again and it will only be a matter of time before palimony comes to the US.
The only way to win is to not play.

If people don't want to get married... don't get married, simple as that.

Also, people don't make light of divorces.
Happy people in relationships doesn't get divorced.

But hey, nobody's forcing anyone to get married... unless it's in a third world country, forcing women and kids of course. But you know.

They don’t have to.
most do when they fall in love and want a family.
when raised well, they make good life choices, pick the right woman and become better. The cycle continues… for generations. Build wealth together… etc.

Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith. The family unit is vary important to western civilization. Having millions of young people being raised in fatherless homes with no real male role model is harming society.

Why I specified no children. Wanting and having kids partly defrays the risk and being a good Dad may improve the odds. It didn't in my case but I selected a wife poorly.

The purpose of marriage has always been to protect the interests of women and children. If no children are involved, then marriage essentially protects women's interests at the expense of men's. So there's your answer.
