What if Roger Clinton, Bill's ne'er do well brother, had a Great Awakening and defeated Trump, as a Democrat, in 2024, and then did exactly the the same things Trump has done, but had Bill's character, including his taste for women. How would you feel about that?

That would be GREAT.

I wouldn’t mind if he did some of the things that his brother did. Many people forget that the Clinton administration was the last time we had a balanced federal budget, and it had been forty or fifty years prior to that. Republicans also conveniently overlook the fact that Clinton’s balanced budget was destroyed less than a year into Bush’s presidency. So much for the party of fiscal responsibility. Oh yeah, AND the majority of republicans fought the Clinton administration on budget issues that in the past they had supported when their republican brethren proposed the exact same changes. Sabotage politics at its best.
Republicans are not now nor have they ever been free of their own lies and hypocrisies. The entire two party system is a sham and republicans are exactly 50% of the problem.

Technically the federal government can’t have a surplus. They are bound by law to spend the revenues on something. Which i have always found odd. This is the only time having a national debt is a good thing, i think. Balance the budget, find surplus and put it toward the national interest. Eliminate the deficit and repeal the law, then put the surplus back into the country like any decent business model.
