I'd rather be in a country where that kind of shit doesn't happen. That said, citizens armed with what--- pistols? Mass shooters usually have automatic, high capacity weapons. Maybe you'd have a chance if everybody else was packing, but that would mean a whole lot of people would be walking around with guns who shouldn't be.

A gun-free zone hopefully means that nobody has guns. In which case, nobody is going to get hurt. Armed citizens are only slightly better than most of them are probably going to miss, or be a lousy shot, or hit the wrong person.

A posted sign saying no guns allowed is as useful as trying to stop a bear attack with a fishing pole. To make it more accurate, it’s no different than posting a billboard with your address on the interstate with the words, “I’m on vacation and I won’t be back until ddmmyyyy. My address is __________. I leave a key under the potted plant. Please don’t rob my house.”
