Would you date someone with a long criminal history?

Let’s say this person claims to have changed and says “it’s all in my past”. Could be burglary, grand theft auto, assault, drug dealing, or even white collar crimes such as accounting fraud. Would you ever trust someone like this, despite their insistence that they have changed? And what sort of crimes are a “I would never date this man/woman to save my life” to you?

Ten years ago, I dated a woman who had a history of several arrests for disorderly intoxication and prostitution. I knew about it after our first date but didn't say anything, waiting to see if she would tell me. On our third date, she told me the whole story. Her husband had died, left her destitute, and she had no other way to support herself for a few years. She eventually put that behind her, got a legit job, and stopped drinking. Her criminal history confirmed that explanation.

I didn't jump into a sexual relationship with her, but we dated for about three months. Maintaining a relationship with her would have been difficult because I had a sister who enjoyed investigating everyone and revealing whatever dirt she could find, but I was willing to take a chance. There were many things about her that I liked, but I eventually broke up with her because of reasons unrelated to her history.
