What to do when I have a vegan who is attempting to sue me over grilling out every weekend, and some times during the week?

One thing to keep in mind here, i have been in my neighborhood with my wife for 15 years. They moved in next door 6 months ago. I have a fenced in back yard. And yes, i do indeed cook out every weekend and some times during the week. This is something i have done for almost a decade, and more so since i have changed from a standard grill to a flat iron type grill.

Well on December 26th i get mail that appears to be a home made or at least AI derived cease and desist letter from my neighbors, suggesting i need to stop grilling meat immediately and permanently or they would sue, and possibly push for criminal charges. Their reasoning is that they are vegan and it makes them sick smelling what im cooking.

What would you do? I personally plan to cook a hell of a lot more outside now that i know it offends their delicate sensibilities.

Just ignore the letter. You have idiot neighbors, which sucks. Don't change what you do, but don't start a feud with them either. Just ignore them. If they persist in their idiocy, maybe consider legal options. Start with the police, then move on to consulting a lawyer if needed. But don't give in to their absurd demand.

I've had a feud with a neighbor before. Moving because of it is not an option. The only real option is to ignore them. If they can't do the same, you might have to pursue legal options.

I don't think they have consulted an attorney. A reasonable competent and ethical attorney would tell them that you have the right to grill in your backyard and, if they don't like it, their option is to move.
