If Canada, Mexico, EU, Central America , and South America quit trading with America , how long could US survive? Then add China. Only South Korea and Japan and the Aussies to trade. It would destroy retail in US and the Auto companies, travel, and farmers.

The US population is decreasing. US companies would not be able to expand for growth. Growth would be limited then start to decrease with fewer customers each year. Isolation won't work.

Great question. Here's some information for magats to deny, but it's true:

* 95% of ALL clothing sold in the USA, is imported, MOST of it from, believe it or not, Mexico. Then China? Nope. Vietnam. THEN China? Yes. Then Bangladesh.
Notice a pattern? Here it is:
Monthly wages for a textile worker:
$625.03 in Mexico,
$319.03 in China,
$113.52 in Bangladesh
$180 to $200 in Vietnam

But factories are coming back to the USA, huh?

How about food? 55% of all fruit, 35% of all vegetables, 95% of all seafood is imported. The rest comes mostly from California (who still have workers) and Florida (who put them all in Alligator Alcatraz and doesn't). Magats love to bitch about CA, but watch what happens if they were to leave the USA and take the West Coast with them.

The USA would collapse into chaos in a year if their import trade disappeared. With energy and housings costs already through the roof in many areas, and food high, just elevated those and through in clothing. See you in the streets.

You see, The bulk of the US power lays in its foreign bases. These would all be captured and held immediately. The rest of the US hardware is no better than Soviet era kit, and China has cut off rare earths, so the new stuff can't be repaired, let alone replaced.

That leaves only ships and nukes. Russia, Iran and China have long had rocketry advantage over the US. So those ships are little more than large coffins at sea.

As for the nukes. What most Americans don't know is that most of the American "deterrent" isn't in the US. The US never could match the Russians in production of intercontinental missiles. It relied on others providing silos closer to Russia to makeup the shortfall. But with China rising, the US has no real nuke threat to challenge them with.

If the US betrays its allies, then you can bet your mongrel American ass, those American silos are going "offline" as well. Leaving the USA no better than Venezuela in being a sitting duck waiting for attack.

The US hasn't won a war in 80 years. Venezuela will turn into another Korea/Vietnam/Iraq/Afganastan and the US will be unable to launch a military attack on Greenland. Especially if they want to try to keep Taiwan out of China's hands.

I think the US has given up on trade deals. Most countries have walked away from their "trade framework agreements" saying Trumps demands aren't sustainable. Canada flat out rejected Trump and said there isn't a trade deal to be made. The US created an embargo against themselves.

EU is a high margin market like US and both economies would suffer a little bit but I don't think this would be massive. Maybe 20-30% less trade income for both.
BUT. This won't happen. Even Ukraine pumped Russian natural gas to Slovakia and Hungary over 2 years while being in war with Russia because of money.
