I am planning to buy a water proof and fire proof safe box soon.

For sure I don't see the reason to not get one in the future, just always spending my money on other things. If I managed to get my own place I'd get a big one to put somewhere.

I have one for long rifles, that I'm obliged to have as firearm license owner in my country. A safe box needs to be mounted with concrete anchors from inside to concrete/brick wall or floor, otherwise burglars take it and open it at home. This can be problematic with houses made of plywood or OSB.
Properly mounted safe box combined with home alarm with few movement sensors will be too difficult to handle for occasional burglars which are 99% of burglaries.

I have a couple safes mostly for guns. I’m not sure if I’m keeping this house but if I am, I’ll probably build a walk in safe in my basement.
