We have free will. The world isn't free. freedom doesn't mean free from cause and effect. Its being able to do anything you want, its not freedom from the consequences of our actions...

Kids are "free" to live with their parents untill their parents can't support them anymore. But the consequences is they are thrown into a hard curel world they aren't gonna make it in.

The kid that had terrible parents, the one that had no cool cloths and looked like a loser growing up because of it. That hungry, cold, kid that grow up all alone... that kid is about to grow up and make this world his bitch...

Kid 2 had a hard life but freedom to learn about will power. Kid 1 had all the best chances but didn't know how to control his will

No. Freedom is always limited when we live in a society alongside other people and our freedoms clash with their freedoms hundreds of times a day. Laws and social graces mitigate our personal freedoms. You can't just walk into a bank vault and take all the cash you can carry. Even if you lived on an island with no other people you wouldn't be free from weather and other natural forces. Time and illness limit our freedom. Borders limit our freedom. And by definition freedom isn't really freedom when it can be limited or denied at any given moment.

At best we have options. We negotiate and navigate our way through day to day life. We make allowances for other people and they reciprocate. Or not.

guess i was always a curious child, but so often when i asked adults i'd get answers like "bc that's how it is" or "bc that's what the government decided" and so on. why do i have to go to school when mom and sis teach me way better? bc you must. why am i allowed to ride the train for free? bc the government decided that way. why is the tax system so complicated (we're learning about it right now so this happened this year)? bc that's how it is. why do you have to take off your shoes before boarding a flight? bc that's how it is. why do we have two tides when the moon is only up once a day? bc that's how it is. ok, that one has nothing to do with freedom haha. but why are some countries poorer and some richer? why do some countries have a president and others kings, with some even being called dictators, while others aren't? and then the same bs answer as always.

personally, i dont believe that we as people aren't free. we dont actually wear handcuffs or are tied to a chair or something. we can also use our minds however we want. but plenty of people choose not to. and many more behave as if they were indeed actual sIaves who cannot leave their masters. when i said that i wanna leave the country when i'm older, people always react very negatively, as if i told them that i wanted to just walk out of prison, especially my parents and grand-parents. i think life is what you make of it and most people see the tiniest little problem and just completely give up. not good in literature? that's it, end of career, gonna go work on a rice field for the rest of my life. funny looking toes? nobody will marry me, i'll die alone as a disgrace to my family. first day in sports club was tough and everybody was better? guess i will become 100kg's, work and order food from home on my toilet. i see this all over the web, so that's definitely not only a problem here. it's absurd. if my father taught me one thing, then that's tenacity (i hope i translated it right), no matter the odds. it's what allows trees to grow huge, termites to build cities and sloths to climb up trees again, no matter how long it takes, no matter if a volcano just made everything burn down.

No, we do not live in a completely free world, though much of freedom comes from the order of people agreeing with some basic ideas. Freedom, then, is the liberty to do things within the society framework without having to guard against other people.

My basic idea is that I have the freedom to move my closed fist all around everywhere, but that my right to move my fist stops where the other person's nose begins. We have freedom only if we respect the freedom others have, if that makes any sense.

Long story short, we live in a free society because we agree that certain behaviors are good and other behaviors are less than good, because we agree on the boundaries of our culture, and accept that getting along with people is usually more important than satisfying our own lusts and desires, and that sets us in some measure free.

So there is two kinds of freedoms. Positive freedom basically you Can do something and Negative freedom basically negating stuff you Don't have to deal with.

At least in USA we're are really good with Positive freedoms. Bad at Negative freedoms. You do need a balance of both for a truly free society.

Let's use a desert as an example. Should people be able to sell water in this environment or should there be a tax and people have access to water. What options give the greatest freedom? It's also a question to ask again over time as progress happens in that area.

No, we still have to pay for stuff. As for personal freedom every country had a ton of laws.

The only time you get a freedom is when the government decides the consequences of your actions doesn't affect them or businesses.

Freedom of speech? The government doesn't give a shit about your ideas but they don't like you keeping them secret either.

Freedom to carry guns? The government doesn't care if you blow your mates head off after 6 pints, just means less welfare to pay out.

You're technically free to do what you want, but you have to take accountability for your actions. Let's say you want to kill someone. You can... humans are fragile that can easily be killed by anyone. But if you do, you have to suffer the consequences. If you insult someone or their loved ones, you'd better prepare to fight them.

But there are some parts of the world that are way more restricting and oppressive. Look at Iran right now. 31000 people dead and counting. They're free to fight back against the Islamic regime, but they have to face the consequences of doing so.

Honestly, it's sad, but there's no such thing as absolute freedom.

Unfortunately we're not free in the sense to do anything that we please especially in certain countries that basically still live in a dictatorship. And even in America, our rights to freedom is being tested these days. Our freedom is very limited.

I can't speak for all countries, but for America I can honestly say we may have the most freedom to speak and do as we please to a certain extent. But lately again, that's being tested by our current administration sadly.

Everything is relative of course. Democracies are not perfect, but at least in theory, we have freedom of speech, freedom to disagree with those who govern us, freedom to vote and freedom to behave and dress in public the way we see fit, as long as it doesn't offend coexistence.

That depends on your idea of freedom. Are you free to take natural resources without a permit? To dump pollution into the environment? To make as much noise as you please without regard to your neighbors?

None of us are entirely free, but in some countries people are quite free to do as they please as long as they are not degrading other people's lives.
