They take up far more space. If people used smaller cars there would be far more parking for everyone.
The spaces have to be made larger to accomodate all the SUVs we get in the UK.

It's a dumb idea. When I was a kid ibused to think about this a lot and realized on average you get maybe an exyra half a space and most peoppe can't even drive well enoigh to make uae of the gigantic spaces as they currently are.
which would probably make insurance premiums go up
Not enough parking is a major reason why everyone owning a car in society doesn't really work. SUV should pay more for parking since SUV are not intended as daily drivers regardless that people use them that way.
No because many people need big cars. What's needed is sensibly designed car parks that everyone can use.
I know a few that have no bays and even on very busy days everyone just uses common sense. People don't need silly white lines.
Yes. Should be more expensive.

This is sometimes the decision of a private business, and sometimes the decision of a municipality. A town could provide some oversize parking spots for a higher fee, but I'm not aware of any city that has done this. Still there are private vehicles that won't fit in some public parking spots -- too long, too tall to enter a garage, ...
The parking spaces were laid out before you got there. The owner set a price for each parking space. So if you are driving Lincoln Navigator or a Smart Car, You pay the same. I have seen parking areas wi I don't know if they pay more or not, but they should.
The problem is not many public or private parkings have larges parking spaces. They're all standard, except parking spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility and/or large families.
It would be awkward to charge different prices. It might result in arguments. Regardless, the parking spots are between painted lines with space to accommodate the larger cars.
So there is a set standard. We can argue what the standard should be but day to day level it is use it or lose it. You're still paying for the same space.
We had diagonal street parking spots created extra for first generation Smart cars. Unfortunately the later generations are usually too long now.
You know where I live? Most parking is privately owned, and I don't feel like we should enrich the owners of these privately owned parking spaces. In regard to public spaces, however, non-commercial cars probably should pay more.
I don't drive. (Kidding)
You have an interesting idea, but how would it work with painting the lines for the parking spots?
That could work
There should be more space for people's cars. Cars empower people and should be a top priority.
no. not everyone can drive around in a motorized skateboard.
Sure, when I part owned a Lincoln limousine in took up multiple spaces so tickets were bought accordingly
You could argue that we pay enough in taxes to keep our vehicleson the road without paying more to park them up
Can they fit in one space? If yes, then no.
Nah. The owners usually pay a stupid tax at the pump.
No, just allow the small cars park inside or on sidewalk
No one should be paying for parking at all, period

"I should be allowed to do everything for free and without any hassle to me" πππππ
Oh you angry little Muppet. You still be hilarious. π
@TwoDecisions sorry you think someone else deserves your money. Just a park your damn car. Lmao. I don't believe everything should be free, not even close to it. Paying for parking? Kiss my ass.
Just for parking *
I donβt drive
