Do you feel this world is oversaturated with celebrity gossip and worship?

Do you feel like we put too much focus on celebrities even to the point where we elect them as leaders of our countries? Do we put so much emphasis on them that it influences who we are or what we consume? I know this sort of ties to my other celebrity question, but this one is more about media and it's coverage of celebrities in general.

I generally think so, but i don’t think about it often. It recently occurred to me because it seems like Megyn Kelly has been covering celebrity gossip a lot lately. There is a lot of newsworthy stuff going on in the world. Why is a political pundit covering celebrity gossip? If it becomes a regular thing, i’ll stop following her altogether.

Not really. It’s popular but it’s also very easy not to pay attention to. There are so many ways to entertain yourself now you can tune it out as soon as you decide to. Unless You just like to listen to celebrity gossip. If you insist on spending time in spaces that focus on celebrities obviously you won’t be able to avoid it.

well, i'd rather elect someone i know than just some name and/or face on a piece of paper. we had a mock election in class before and i had no idea what i was doing, but i had a pretty clear opinion on the last irl election bc i knew them from the news, if not for their politics, i still knew what and whom they stood for. i'd rather vote for a guy who played superman in a movie than some nobody, or heck, someone who played a villain, sorry, even if you're a good actor, i hate creeps! but i assume that you usually do have a pretty clear choice if you put in 1 minute of research using chatgpt.

It is an effort maybe by the world economic forum or maybe the high table to distract us away from the important issues of the day so that they can make us do whatever they want. At least that's my conspiracy theory.
