What is a real man?

Question

I often hear people say “real men” as though there is an eternal standard of masculinity or that a “real man” is unchanged. I wonder why it’s so important to uphold a standard that no two men could exactly agree on?

Do we want all men to look and behave exactly the same, where is the room for individuality or personal liberty in that?

Somebody who understands who he is , somebody who is patient , who is kind , who is giving Somebody that makes his family and his children priority  And he knows who he is , and he doesn't have to yell or scream or hit a child to teach them He doesn't have to yell at his wife either. Because he's smart enough to know that's not going to get him anywhere He is the guy without an ego. Because he knows , eagles are fake and b******* and don't mean anything except for loser He can build anything , he can use every tool that's made And if he can't , he's not afraid to try You also knows you can't have success without\Failure  He can also be as big as strong as bad as he wants to That he also knows he doesn't have to open his mouth to prove himself He's only afraid of 2 people. That's god and his wife If he sees somebody picking on somebody that cannot defend themselves will step in If he sees somebody that needs a helping hand he will stop and give them that hand and ask for nothing He will treat everybody as his equal. No matter who they are , no matter what age they are His quietness and his confidence were handed in hand it's just who is not afraid to get dirty. He's not afraid to take on any challenge.
He has a beautiful heart very very disciplined , there's not too many things that can back him up or get him down

There are actually a few specific standards widely accepted by most. A real man should have a mature, well-developed mindset; he should be cultured and have capital. He must possess mastery in a field, striving to be the best at what he does, and maintain a solid network. Finally, his body must be healthy and strong having some muscle wouldn't hurt at all. A man who possesses all of these leads a peaceful life, a life of a true man.

The definition of masculinity is changing (honestly, it should have a long time ago but that’s a separate conversation) and what makes a “real man” is surprisingly universal. Essentially, being a “real man” means allowing yourself to feel security in your masculinity to the point that you’re able to tell the difference between flirting and harassment, both on the distributing and receiving ends, as well as just a general sense of honor and morality. He’s accountable for his actions, keeps his word, and treats people with respect especially when it’s not convenient.

He can be strong without being harsh, and vulnerable without feeling weak. He protects what he cares about, but also listens, learns, and grows.

Society standards of a "real man" differs from culture to culture and country to country.

In western civilization is a man that typically is considered the top 1%, 2%, 5%, 10% 15% 20% manosphere BS of social status, ability to date very pretty women and has a lot riches with fancy cars.

In east Asian countries typically is a man that is very traditional, strong, provider and family oriented.

In south Asian countries is a man that is heavily religious and rules with vigor over his house and wife and is typically a warrior.

People who throw this around “a real man” tend to be insecure people wanting to feel superior to someone and that’s point blank.

I think it comes down to who you are as a human being the same goes for women as well. Obviously, all men are different. People who want everyone to conform to their way of being and that’s the only way to validate their way of thinking. Is to put people down…. Such as bitter women and angry men.

I’ve never liked the phrase “real men” because it acts like there’s one fixed standard every guy has to follow. In reality, masculinity isn’t one-size-fits-all, it’s shaped by personality, culture, and personal values.

Most of the time, “real man” just means “act how I think you should act,” which limits individuality. To me, a real man is simply someone being authentic and responsible, not trying to fit into someone else’s mold.
