What do the German people think about Adolf Hitler?

I knew a woman who was a friend of my parents and Jewish who was born in Germany who had her entire family tortured and murdered in front of her by the Nazis when she was a small child. She was the only survivor who by a twist of fate was able to escape to Holland where a wonderful (non-Jewish) family hid her in their attack until the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands ended and she made it to the United States to settle. She was not a fan of Adolph Hitler.

She was one of the nicest, most intelligent, kindest, most upbeat people I have ever known. I could always tell that there was something in her heart that none of us could possibly comprehend.

Probably they don't think of him all that much, he was almost a hundred years ago. A small number do though I've seen Gypsy Crusader videos with Germans doing the Roman salute and saying heil Hitler. I doubt there are very many of those types though.

A few years ago, I spent some time working in Germany, and the topic did come up, though it was rare. Basically, the people I worked with simply mentioned that the Nazi era was a sad time in Germany, and they didn't want to talk about it.

Civil offences (which is what over-staying your visa is) don't result in prison sentences, so why should they be locked up for months on end?

I don't know what Miller would like to do, I'd just lock them in prison with the option of leaving the country on their own. Whether I doubt Germans knew about Hitler's intentions. He's a socialist and people who vote for socialism want to be taken care of like children. The last thing on their minds is stuff like gulags and concentration camps. They're all about love and flowers and universal basic income. Their perceived enemy is the dirty kulak who runs the hardware store down town and made them pay for bolts and a plyers.
