Hitler is narcissism taken to the extreme. But while he bears the majority of the responsibility for the European theater of WWII, you also have to assign some of the blame to the Allies of WWI, which unfairly placed all the blame, and all the reparations, for WWI on the Germans (who didn't start it), as well as on the German citizens, who failed to throw Hitler out when the Nazis started implementing policies that were amoral. They chose to ignore the lack of morality because they were the beneficiaries - at first. And by the time they realized they were in big trouble, it was far too late for that.

Hitler was evil personified - but he was actually only in 3rd Place behind Joseph Stalin (USSR) and Mao (China) in the number of his own citizens killed by his policies in the 20th century. Which goes to show that evil is always a danger, and must be stopped and kept in check before it gets out of hand.

When it's not kept in check, evil grows and spreads very quickly, and the cost is always far higher than most people can even imagine.

While Native Americans were massacred, it was never part of a deliberate planned government policy. Not all were by the US Army, and those that were were often due to the actions of local commanders. For example, the Sand Creek Massacre in Colorado was carried out by local militias.
