Ever wonder why you don't see English translations of Adolf's speeches? It's because the words he's speaking are animated - no doubt - but are meant to be inspiring for his audience, not angry. It sounds angry because that's just how German sounds.
Also, Jesse Owens said that Adolf Hitler and the National Socialists treated him kindly and congratulated him on his performance but he was snubbed by President Roosevelt and his own American peers back home. Of course, even though Americans despised him, that didn't stop American propagandists from using Owens to spread the idea that he crushed the German National Socialist ideal.

He was a brave man and very passionate about his Germany along with its citizens to a nationalistic degree. Also, he was intelligent and charming. I would've liked to have met the guy before WW2 due to how people described meeting him.

However, he was also impulsive/reckless, manipulative, callous, arrogant, spiteful, and he had a lot of problems with addiction (drugs and sexual stuff.) The dude was so fucked up from WW1 and the stress of Russia invading that he was taking a ton of drugs for his anxiety. Plus, I think he made a lot of stupid decisions due to likely being rushed and gradually losing his mental stability.

Of course, I don't know if this is all 100% true, as I never knew the guy or was there even. This is just my POV based on what I've read/watched.

I'm surprised this is a question. Hitler was by any standards among the worst humans to have ever lived. He was responsible for the genocide of millions and a war of aggression that killed tens of millions. Within his country there was a regime of terror and secret police.

He committed those horrors - and LOST. Despite being willing to do "whatever it took", to lead is race of ubermen to world domination, he and his Nazi party utterly failed.

Julius Cesar forged an empire that lasted centuries. So did Qin Shi Huang. Even Genghis Khan's empire lasted a while. At least there gain for the evils that they did. Hitler and Germany accomplished nothing.

I remember decades ago going to a military air show in Berlin. I remember the people - children and grand children of the WW2 Germans, cheering as American warplanes flew overhead. Made me smile.

Camps operated at an individual level. I’ve read the autobiographies of some former Nazis who read the camps.

They explained that in a lot of the cases, they saw the exterminations as an act of mercy for the poor living conditions.

@WhiteBoyChill I'm sure not going to defend Stalin, he killing millions in the Gulags and created an internal reign of terror. OTOH, in contrast to Hitler the USSR did continue to exist for decades after him, rather than being utterly destroyed. Stalin didn't launch a self-destructive war.

Hitler's policies resulted in a brief burst in German productivity, but withing a decade in its total destruction. That result was completely predictable when he declared war on the rest of the world, while committing the sort of atrocities against his own people and against conquered areas that would drive away almost all potential allies.

The Nazis fashioned themselves on ancient Rome (look their banners) but they were nothing like Rome. Rome conquered - but then integrated conquered areas to be part of Rome. Rome was tolerant of other cultures and religions as long as they obeyed Roman authority (until very late as rome was starting to fail when they started persecuting Christians).

Its easy to be fooled by the image of the Nazi supermen, but they not only committed horrendous crimes, they failed. The lost the industrial race, and lost the technological race. All that remains now are people who use Nazi symbols as a fashion statement to get attention.

@richardcory Yes but you have to realize also, it did take the entire world several years to defeat them. While they did have Italy and Romania as allies, they were still responsible for probably 90% of the Axis war effort.

Had some things been done differently, I do believe it is possible Hitler could have won the war and ushered in on world domination

@WhiteBoyChill I don't think so. German just didn't have the necessary industrial base. They could probably have held some of western Europe, but the combination of the US and USSR could tremendously outproduce them.

The problem was that their behavior drove most of the world to be their enemies, and a competent leader would have recognized that and limited his grasp to what he could hold.

The US involvement in Europe was somewhat delayed by Japan. That was also a miscalculation, attacking Hawaii was just stupid. But once the US defeated Japan, they would have turned their full might toward Germany and there just was no chance.

Even if they had a military victory, how would the domination win? With their insistence on a "master race" there would have been a tiny number of Germans trying to control the vast population of the world. Their ideology doomed them to failure

Still, I'm interested in talking to them. I also know someone who idolizes Stalin. Haven't found a Mao supporter yet but I'm sure they are out there. I find it interesting to see how people who believe these things think
