Next weekend, in the US, we have to change the clocks forward. What are your thoughts on having to do this, or do you want to just be done with it?

Whatever
I'd prefer they didn't do it, but it's not a big deal. Part of the reason is to save energy, which is totally legit
In the US it's done at the state level, which is the way it should be. States on the eastern or western end of a time zone can decide if it's worthwhile. At least two states that I know of don't do it. Where I live, it's almost 10:00pm when it gets dark. I don't like that.
Everything in nature uses a natural clock of sunlight. For some strange reason humans can't get with the program. When the sun comes up, do stuff. When the sun goes down, stop doing stuff. It's not that difficult, but humans always want to fight nature.
i really don't care frankly. it's not that big of a negative in my life.
i also wouldn't care if they did away with it as i would simply adjust my life. but it would be hard, depending on how they decided to end it, trying to get my kids up for school and out to the bus in the dark of winter (that is if they opted to stick with the spring forward time)
Summer and winter time was justified as humanity used conventional light bulbs which produced 95% heat and just 5% light that we can see. Today with all that new light sources it's pointless to save power that way. It just makes a huge problems with setting clocks and devices which don't do that automatically.
I wish they would pick one and stick with it. I'd prefer for it to get darker later in the day though as I can barely drive at night so it would be nice to have it permanently get darker later.
Right. It's not at all.
Exactly. Couldn't have said it better myself smh
Thank you for MHO!

For me it's a bit of a hassle altering the clocks, but losing 1 hour and gaining 1 hour every spring and autumn doesn't affect me more than a day.
Obviously someone has worked this out, and it's beneficial we have daylight saving time.
So I vote we keep daylight saving time.
Spring forward, fall backward. That's what our English teacher told us and that's how I best remember it, even if I'm not a native English speaker.
I'm a little groggy the first day, as my internal clock needs to adjust and it's a bit rusty by now. But I get over it soon. Like a mini hangover without the drink.
I can see why it's done, but it really is a hassle when you consider the number of "clocks" in our alarms, our TV, microwaves, and even the stove clock.
The bigger problem is that we live right on the easternmost edge of our Time Zone which means we get screwed, with sunsets coming too early.
I hate it , it’s not necessary anymore, it was to save energy way back when. Arizona stopped doesn’t do it , Jamaica doesn’t do it, china has the same time zone for the whole country and I don’t think they do daylight savings either
I hope they pick the later one because during the winter it’s so annoying when it gets dark so early
They keep talking about getting rid of it but it never happens
I like it. I'm glad we have it eight months a yr. instead of six like b4. What I really want is keeping the time an hr. ahead always. Then we'd hav an hr. longr always.
Someone said in the 1970's they did it n peopl didn't like it. When kids go 2 school they wood b in the dark longr durin the wintr someone said. If that workd out 4 evryone, that would b good.
It’s the most annoying thing ever… I hate it!
I'm amazed by the number of people who get worked up over a one hour time change twice a year. It is a non event in my life. I couldn't care less. If a one hour clock shift is the biggest disruption in your life you are forced to deal with, you're in good shape.
Wish they would decide to go one way or the other and keep it all year long.
@abbycado I am indifferent to it ⏰. Here currently it gets dark late.
Abby I forgot - aren't you from PA USA? Look - nostalgia - sometimes it looks like a poor man's New York stand in. Not a criticism
trading places 👀📉🥰
I like longer days in the evening so I like it
Me too. I thrive in summer because of this. Vitamin D levels are no joke. I have more energy and feel better in spring and summer.
@paige90 an icon returns 😁😄🫠 you probably won't want to see my latest questions lol 😞😆
It's pointless. We should get rid of BST and keep GMT all year round.
Simples...
It's honestly a waste of time and the constant change of clocks and time pieces is ridiculous!
It works well here because we're heavily reliant on tourism. Lighter evenings keeps people out and about which is good for businesses.
@purplepoppy and get bitten by badgers at all hours 🦡👀🤭🤭🤭
Just pick one and make life easier for all of us!
I think probably just leave it the same all year. But I am a bit on the fence over the issue.
I'd do away with it and leave nature alone. an easy solution is to turn off all clocks and just enjoy your life.
Well It’s good because then it gets too dark when it’s early and vice versa without it so it makes sense to have it.
Longer days in the summer and shorter days in the winter. It actually suits me fine.
I'm in between your two options. Sometimes it is very nice to have more daylight in the evening or the mornings, but other times I wish we didn't have to worry about it. Plus it seems outdated.
I’d sooner be done with it , just seems like a pointless exercise
It is time-consuming, annoying, and serves no useful purpose.
The same as when we have to fall back
Both should be a national holiday those days
More daylight the better! When we lose the hour I definitely feel different. I always feel great with more sunlight.
most countries don't even do it. I do like it though cause it means we are that much closer to summer especially for east coasters where we get the harshest winters.
Make it stop was great for farmers a hundred years ago, more daylight, longer to harvest crops. Horses and plows have improved to be more efficient. DST is not needed anymore
I see very little gain by the time shift to be honest.
It's nice to have some more daylight during this period of the year but then in the summer it makes the day too long, I wish we turned the clock back before June lol
I like longer evenings without it being dark but I wish it would stay the same all year
It's one of my favorite holidays. I love to have them all done the day before and see them all synchronized. Makes my OCD so happy.
Same here... honestly, I don't really like it... but I tolerate it, what else can I do :P
Useless today. Makes things worse in winter.
It made more sense when we didn't have the electric light. Just pick one side and stick with it.
The concept that you can create something out of nothing just by changing the clock is ridiculous.
The hour we lose in Fall worsens my seasonal depression. I'm happy about next week. I can't stand it getting dark at 4 pm.
It has no purpose anymore, it needs to be over with.
DST needs to be made permanent all year long. Enough with the switching back and forth
I don't really mind but I'd much rather not
Agree with that! 😤
I don't mind it
It need to be removed
Unnecessary in the modern age
I like it lighter later
I just want them to pick a time and stick with it
Make Daylight Savings Time permanent!
The government is here to help
I say one time all the time
Used to it for all these years.
Idiotic. Outdated. Fucking get rid of it.
Outdated now
DLST SUCKS
