Some people complain about ICE agents wearing masks to hide their identity, to protect themselves and their families who have threatened to harm them. Yet many of those same people don't complain about a woman wearing a burka that hides her identity.

ICE Agents feel a sense of protection from the law in terms of consequences of their actions. When there is no identification, no identifiers, no information to go by in terms of unlawfully injuring or even killing a person on the streets then how can there be accountability? Plus, if you’re innocent then you can prove your innocence in a court of law by appealing or fail to appeal can go to court to sort this out with your legal team.
It goes against the victims and their families to get closure and justice also the ICE Agent who might be able to give clarity on the situation with their presence.
Now all due respect to Burka, I focus on domestic issues so Americans have to give up their Identification to Corporations, give into AI powered mass surveillance which has hurt and wrongfully accused innocent parties involved (recently a grandmother who lived 1,000 miles from the scene of the crime wrongfully accused by police on the basis of AI), and ICE thugs smashing windows and forcefully pulling people out of their vehicle.
Why can’t we see their faces, badges, or something to indicate who is doing the action and have someone say whether it is unlawful or not on the behalf of the communities being impacted by these heinous actions.
Because the very, very few women who wear burkas in the U. S. are doing so for religious reasons. They are minding their own business. They aren't arresting or threatening anyone.
ICE are law enforcement agents who should have body cams, names and badge numbers so that they can be held accountable for upholding the law. They should not look or behave like anonymous thugs who act with impunity.
Why are ICE more afraid of being targeted than are police? I think that's just a bullshit excuse to introduce a new kind of federal paramilitary that acts without any accountability to citizens.

Common sense should tell anyone that a regular police officer and a federal agent part of a special task force will be operating under very different rules and restrictions Undercover police officers are paid by tax dollars too but you can’t require them to reveal their identity just because they’re paid by tax dollars. Even local police forces that are funded by tax, but aren’t required to divulge all information to the public.. just because you’re uncomfortable with a certain aspect regarding the way police do their job doesn’t make it illegal. If it was illegal, Democrats would’ve forced him to stop doing it already..

u I don't think ICE needs any justification for wearing a mask, and it doesn't bother me at all.
The issue isn't the mask itself, it's that they are many times not identifying themselves by showing them their badge. Women are being abducted by masked men without ID claiming to be ICE.

To be clear, technically it's not against the law for them to be masked. I understand that but do you agree they need to ID themselves? That's really the legal concern.
I have no problem with requiring all law enforcement officers to show identification at the beginning of an encounter.
it's the law so why aren't they always doing it and what kind of accountability needs to be taken for these folks that don't. It's definitely a problem. Not all of them are doing this but many are. I have friends in Minneapolis and they've been stopped multiple times on the street just walking. It's scary and they said out of the 5 times they were randomly stopped 3 times they refused to show id.

A woman wearing a burqa is a private citizen with no authority over anyone. ICE agents have the power to detain and deport people on behalf of the government. When the state exercises that kind of power, accountability and identification matter. Those two situations aren’t comparable.
If ice and other law enforcement personnel cannot wear a mask, then none of the protestors should be allowed to wear a mask and should be arrested and prosecuted the same way an agent would be prosecuted. What is good for the agents is good for the general protesting public. NO exceptions.
