Sounds like he may be closeted, but he may also be extremely shy. He might feel insulted that someone thinks he's gay because he hasn't had a girlfriend, OR he may be gay and there's some reticence about talking about it. No way to know unless you get to know him better, I suspect. He may fess up when he trusts you. He may not.

Not at all. Maybe he just doesn't want sex, or even companionship. It's a thing. I know someone who as far as I know had one girlfriend for a while, and he's about my age.
