Is the Miami cruise ship "subject to US jurisdiction"? If so, then under the 14th Amendment, thenewborn baby is a US citizen. That's how it works, whether the baby is born on a US ship in 2026 or 1869.

And, yes, they DID think that because ships have existed for 1000s of years. They weren't stupid. Don't you think babies were born on ships crossing the Atlantic Ocean from England to colonial America? Those babies were British subjects because England had birthrite citizenship (which is why the US had birthrite citizenship). Such an example was not unknown to them when the 14th Amendment was written.

It does sound silly but it MUST have been that intention. To add if parents weren't u. S. Citizen. If a parent was citizen, then that caused kid, therefore the "location caused citizens" law must be for non-citizen. And non citizen is here for a limited time like a tourist.

Maybe the reason for this was to obligate the child in u. S. Laws.
