Why has global trust in the United States collapsed so badly?

It boils down to a complete loss of credibility. Trump threatens military action against NATO countries, starts wars without defined goals, moves the goalposts when negotiating trade deals, and says lies so outlandish that makes him look loonier than Kim Jung Un. He trashes every former ally to the point that no country follows the US's lead anymore. Trump and the MAGA simps kissing the ring actually believe that when they buy clothes made in a sweatshop in a third world country, they are the ones being taken advantage of in global trade. Honestly America, what happened to you? You used to be a helluva country.

The US has never been, as you put it, "a helluva of a country." From its very inception, the US has been almost continuously in conflict for the last 250 years. Because of our economic system of predatory capitalism, there is a necessity for nearly constant wars. It is only in recent years that the US has discovered that maintaining a war, as opposed to trying to win it, actually is more profitable for private industries. The standard of living in this country is absolutely abominable for most people. We have a huge homeless population, and the crime rate is unspeakable. This is a country that was ripe for someone like Trump to assert power, and that is exactly what he has done. Whether he will be able to continue doing it is unclear. All that said, we are not a country you should envy.

There was a time where people from all over the world would immigrate to the US for better opportunities than exist in their own country. It was affordable and they wanted to give their kids an American education. Now immigrants are leaving after a few years because it's not the same experience as previous generations. The US was never perfect but it used to be better than most countries for opportunities.

Doing it once could be a mistake, doing it twice is malignant.

Those of us that are still sane absolutely agree, but unfortunately I should probably know there are significant number of us who are no sane if they ever were and that presents a problem in that we select our leaders by voting at least for right now. Going forward, thanks to the insane among us that may not even be true anymore.

Why would any sane government trust a schizophrenic nation that break treaties, starts trade wars on a whim, threatens to attack allies, starts shooting wars based on lies, and insults other world leaders during state visits? A combination of our unconditional support of Israel from both parties, and Israel being in control of our foreign policy. We wouldn't be in this situation if Biden had kept his campaign promise of being a one term president, and the DNC had held a legit primary instead of waiting till the last minuet and just handing the nomination to Harris who was unpopular during the 2024 election and during the 2020 primary where she came in 3 place in her home state of California. On a positive note, Trump is losing some of his supporters over the Iran conflict, guess better late then never.

The USA is technically insolvent. The Treasury reported assets of $6.06 trillion and debts of $45 trillion. There isn't a lender in the world who'd give an individual a loan with that kind of debt to asset ratio. Not only that, the Trump admin is adding to it and has NO plan in place to lower that debt, because he doesn't give a flying fuck.

The petrodollar used to be what acts as a collateral for US to get so much loans with so low interests.
However it seems USA is throwing it under the bus for some weird reason.

@Pohjolan The plan is a bit obscured. Used to be the US would go to any length, including assassinations and replacing entire regimes, to protect the petrodollar. Now it seems like a false front even though they rail against any attempt to change it. On the other hand, chaos IS part of the plan.
