what does he mean "he [A private operator] will answer to the standards the city will set. These standards include requirements that at our stores bread will be cheaper. Eggs will be cheaper." like egg price now is "As of 17 April 2026, the wholesale price for large eggs to retailers in New York City is $0.65 per dozen according to USDA reports." they make $1 profit each so how will the city budget subsidize this while keeping Consumer prices low? this is doomed to fail?

I heard it will cost 30 million dollars to have a city run supermarket built on land already owned by the city. It will open in 2029. Aldi's is building 3 supermarkets in NYC for 30 million dollars on land it has to purchase.
