I can honestly say I'm proud of the fact that we have all manners of freedom where a lot of other countries do not. If I wanted I could get on Twitter, I mean X, and say just about anything I want without there being punishment for it.
Freedom of Religion or not to be religious is a huge one as well. There are countries that do not have that as well.
I know our current administration makes it hard to be proud but despite that, I am glad to be an American.
I'm saying all this and asking this question because of the 250th anniversary coming up on July 4th.
It's going to be 250 years since we became the United States of America. Is there anything you can say you are proud of about our country?
I'm very proud of America what makes it good are the people who live here. and know matter who you are what color of hair you have or eyes that we are all one people
As we have all gotten older hopefully we have gotten wiser.. we are the generation of change to be honest and it's our jobs to fined out all truths those them and expose them same with all the evils the one sad part that I don't like about America is our government the people who run our lives the people who are supposed to represent us but they are destroying us it's our job as this generation to expose them to let everybody know and we the people can still change the planet but it's going to take all of us
We have learned from our past and we know the truth of it we cannot allow the Next Generation to live or to go where we are headed and if we the people do not change it then our children our children's children are going to pay hell for it
I don't know about anybody else but I have children I have grandchildren I want them all to be successful and I want them to live in a happy world not the evil world that is being created it's our duty to change it to make wherever we live a better place to live it's our duty to do this for all of our kids
I personally will do whatever it takes to change the way things are being handled our food products are destroying us as humans as whatever we are as people every single one of us we can sit back and let it happen and not say anything not do anything or we can change it we can become one like we're meant to become and change the planet to be a better place that's what I'm proud of that I know that we the people are capable and are strong enough to do this it just takes each one of us to step into it and do it by saying we will not allow this anymore a change will happen
Things I am most proud of our country for: The brilliance of the Bill of Rights, that some things are beyond the scope of government. Its leadership in art, science, and world finance Our melting pot, we don't have a single culture but have adapted multiple beliefs, cultures and creeds. From the Creole off the South to the surf culture of California, to the independence of the Appalachians, to the big business of New York, we aren't afraid of our differences, but embrace them.
I know that other countries have it a lot worse, and some have it better than the American people.
I'm sorry to say that I don't recognize the America 🇺🇸 that I am living in now. So I can't brag about it.
Now, when Jimmy Carter was President, America 🇺🇸 was pretty actually pretty much uneventful.
Not like it is now. Everything is at such a high pace everyday and the government keeps changing things several times a day and I feel like I have to constantly keep up with all of these changes. Especially when I get ALERT! WARNING! YOU'RE SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS ARE ABOUT TO CHANGE! I get these everyday and they are quite stressful to say the least.
And with our government being able to access all of our bank accounts without our permission to see if we really need that much money from Social Security every month and them threatening to lower the amount is unamerican! I worked for 30 long years to one day get Social Security and I couldn't even marry my late boyfriend Patrick because Social Security would take 1/2 my check away from me! How sad huh?
The bill of rights is pretty cool. Sure it's not perfect, but unlike in the UK no one is going to jail for posting statistics or insulting someone like you can in Germany.
Things are also pretty easy hear. It's about the same in Canada, but everyone has drive through now, you can get most things delivered to your house same day. You can get just about any ingredient you want in a can XD
Thing is well I'm not to happy about living in the US, I don't know where else I'd go.
I also think it's important to remember that the US was founded on really good ideas. Revolutions rarely turn out good for the people involved. Look at the French Revolution, Russian Revolution, Iranian Revolution, etc. In almost every case it was just one group of psychos replacing another group and nothing really got better. Sure that was kinda true for the US (cough cough whisky rebellion) and well the founders weren't perfect. Many still believed in slavery none of them in womens liberation or LGBT rights, but they got the sparks in motion.
@DryGermanGuy Well america is a much bigger country population wise so that's not exactly a fair comparison. That being said the US still incarcerates people at 9-10 times the rate of Germany. The US has a much higher violent crime problem and is also a lot harsher when it comes to punishments. So I don't think this has anything to do with Freedom of expression
@emeraldsaphire Of course, you have to normalize the numbers for fair comparison, which you did. The whole American injustice system, including policing for profit, is rather broken, no? We actually had several American politicians visiting here, to analyze the German system and trying to adapt lessons for the United States. But my point is, all things considered, people have more freedom here. The people sitting in German prisons for "expressing" themselves are probably a handful, if that. You get arrested for showing the Nazi salute here, yes, but people doing that are 99,9% violent extremists, with a long rap sheet for all sort of felonies. No sympathies for that scum. I rather live in a country where I can walk around or drive around with an alcoholic beverage, can see nude girls on the beaches and tanning lawns and can't be fired from work for the dumbest reasons (including for expressing myself!).

I’m not from USA and compared to many countries, it’s not the safest or easiest place to have a good life. You’ve got no universal healthcare system and what are routine treatments in other countries cost $1000s and that’s with insurance (which is compulsory but doesn’t even cover people a lot of the time). You have no real social safety net. If one falls on hard times and can’t find a job, you’re basically screwed with very little help from the government. There’s a very high value placed on gaining individual wealth rather than building a community which is strong together. Patriotism in USA seems to mean that as opposed to actually helping in ways which benefit the people of the country which is what the country is at the end of the day.
The majority of Americans are against workers unions who fight to make life easier and fairer for workers. Instead they take the side of corporate greed even when it’s to their own detriment.
And you have cultivated a culture where owning a firearm for one’s own protection is a basic necessity. This has created a vicious cycle where homicides by shooting occur so much that everyone needs a gun themselves which results in more shooting.
Yes you have a big population and powerful military albeit not handled by very good strategists. However that wealth really comes down to fortunate geographical location and resource availability.
So if I was an American, I don’t know how proud of it I would be.
We created an incredible economy that includes marvels of agriculture, personal transportation, aviation, computers, the internet, communications, materials science, astronomy, and medicine. But in order to do that we have committed some heinous acts. We created a ruthless society inherently biased towards conflict and war.
Genocide of the Native American people.
Enslavement of Africans.
Economic slavery of poor immigrants
Constant wars all over the planet.
Massive wealth inequality.
Toxic extremist Chistianity.
White sumpremacy.
Massive pollution.
You can't be in awe of the achievements without acknowledging the price paid by others.
even though I was not born here I been a happy citizen of this country for 35 years now and I’m beyond proud of my country and the founding principles: free speech, religious liberty, due process, the right to criticize the government, and the idea that rights are not supposed to come from politicians.
America has made serious mistakes, and the government often fails its own standards. But the standard itself is still worth defending. A country can be flawed and still be built on ideas strong enough to correct those flaws over time.
"America 250" is lame compared to the Bicentennial.
The Bicentennial was a big deal for a few years leading up to the event itself. It was like the NFL Playoffs culminating in the Super Bowl. "America 250", so far, is like MLB Spring Training.
I won't blame the relative lameness of America 250 on Trump, per se, but the dysfunctional family circus and divisiveness he created in the American populace and the whole world has made it so no one feels like partying. It's hard to celebrate when you know historians will judge us as idiots for TWICE electing the worst President in American history.
A lot of great inventions, discoveries, scientific advancements, and technology, etc., have come out of the USA. Bravo for that.
Other than that, the track record of how it treated indigenous people, certain groups of immigrants, it's own citizens and the slave industry, speaks for itself. It's disgusting. The USA as a nation had the potential to be great in so many ways, but its leaders made some very bad choices and people followed them. The same thing is happening today, only the consequences will be more catastrophic.

I am proud to be a citizen of the greatest country in the world. America was on the verge of being destroyed jut two years ago. We had record inflation, gas prices skyrocketed and were were being flooded by illegal alien costing taxpayers hundreds of billion of dollars every year. Now it is all turned around and we have low inflation and high job creation and the border is secure. America is entering a new golden age.
No. We don't have freedom anymore due to pc rules and threats - liberal oppose liberty. But current administration trump brought peace to middle east. That is proud and amazing achieving. Iran can't fund huthi nor hezbollah nor hammas so things calmed down- proud of trump and peace 👍🏆️
It is harder to be proud of what is flawed especially when everyone elected aren’t acting to be a portrayal of the country that it should be rather than keep us in a country we sadly are instead. Especially when they reap the benefits from keeping it that way.

Civil rights that were originally established in response to oppression from the British and that are now being dismantled satisfy the desires of one seriously mentally ill criminal who he elected as the president of our country.
It is still the overall best country. We can’t keep people from breaking in and wanting to live here that is how good it is here. Once they get here though, they learn to call others racists and then demand free stuff which is not how this country was built.

I think the U. S. has flaws just like any other country but the U. S. is truly an amazing country with so many opportunities it offers if you are willing to sacrifice and work for it.

I'm proud of the fact that we help defeat Hitler in world war II. Other than that there is not a single thing I can think of. Really. We have done nothing of any value and start war after war after war for as long as we have been in existence.
Our nation has led the world in both the industrial and technological revolution. We enjoy the freedom of speech and religion. We have set the standard for the western world.
