Why are there so many more trucks and SUVs than cars on US roads?

Some say bigger is better however that is not always a good thing & as for your question it makes you think. As we look around it’s like everything is getting bigger including people as well. As for me I made the shift 15 years ago & I made the shift to an SUV because I needed something with a little more power, a little more room, safer & the main reason why I got it was because of snow & because it had four wheel drive.

15 years later I still have the same vehicle, still love it & although snow is almost unheard of where I live now I love driving on sand instead. I have been looking at new vehicles however newer engines are shit nowadays & so underrated it’s not worth it.

My father has a small compact pickup truck like this & I really wish they would bring them back instead of the monster trucks out there today. Single seat, small & it’s a great little vehicle.

because detroit stopped making the big station wagons that were popular in the 60s , 70s and 80s. Americans live a big lifestyle. They have kids and plenty of stuff. America has a culture based on the automobile and the summer road trip is still alive and well.

There are more cars, but trucks are on the road ten times more than cars. That makes it appear there are many more trucks than actual trucks.

Trucks and SUVs are more useful. Why get a car when you can get a smaller SUV that can get from A to B and tow a small trailer if needed? Not to mention, more steel and bigger typically translates to safer for the occupants of the bigger vehicle.

Because sedans really do not exist anymore. You got 2 choices anymore, compact, or SUV. Sure they got rid of sedans add created what they call a "crossover". But lets call it what it is. It's just a downsized SUV.😆 i hate SUV's and i'm not tiny enough for a compact. I hate what they've done to vehicles over the past 10 or 15 years.
