Do you hold your own people accountable?

Do you hold your own people - religious, political, cultural, etc. - accountable? When they make a bad argument or there's some other kind of bad behavior (violence, rhetoric, scandal, and such), do you call them out for it?

I try to do so devoid of anger. If I'm angry I always assume i am wrong and try to rethink first. ㅤ

I don’t really practice tribalism and nobody speaks for me. So there are no “my people” to call out. I am hyper aware of hypocrisy though, and very practiced at calling that out. Some time ago I posed a question of my own, asking people to self identify their political alignment and then name at least one politician from the opposing party that they admire and at least one from their own party that they think should do better. Only one person did a halfway decent job responding. Everyone else demonstrated what I suspected going into it, they honestly think their chosen party is never wrong and the opposing party is never right.
That’s nothing short of willful ignorance.

First I would say someone having similar opinions on religion or politics doesn't make them "my people", it just means we agree on something but I don't tend to get into such discussions even with people I do agree with, of which there are few. Between being agnostic and not liking one single politician, almost everyone usually managed to get upset with me about something so part of not getting into that topic is not calling them out for their behavior or opinions pertaining to either topic. It's not my place and not worth the inevitable ensuing argument.

I don’t have my own group based on religion, politics, or culture. I try to judge things fairly based on facts, logic, and behavior, not identity. If something is wrong or a bad argument, I call it out no matter who says it. At the same time, I try not to generalize or judge whole groups based on individuals.

Absolutely, that is vital to keeping a movement healthy. You don't want toxic echo chambers and on the right its generally tolerated and appreciated since it acts as a good filter for bad ideas.

As for "My People", that's a very small group. And I try to surround myself with people who hold themselves accountable. It's a lot less work for the entire group.
