+1 yIF I LIVED IN FIRST WORLD COUNTRIES, I DON'T BUT I LIVE IN A 3RD WORLD COUNTRY AND I THINK TO HELP THE OTHERS BY CHARGE THEM. UNFORTUNATELY THESE PEOPLE MOSTLY, WISH FOR A GOOD DAY BUT NEVER TRY TO CATCH IT!! THEY MOSTLY BELIEVE IN A SAVIOR LIKE " MASSIAH " OR SOME OTHER ONE WHO WILL COME AND " LONELINESS " FIGHT FOR THEIR RIGHTS AND THEY SIT AROUND AND ENCOURAGE HIM!!! I AM NOT AN AUTHORITARIAN BUT WANT TO HELP THESE PEOPLE. ALSO MY PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE READING BOOKS, SO THEY MOSTLY IMPRESS BY " RUMOR ". SOME PERSONS SAY GIVE THEM UP AND LOOK AT FOR A BETTER LIFE BUT SOME THE OTHERS SAY IF YOU COULD HELP THEM, DO THAT. UNFORTUNATELY MY PEOPLE THINK THAT " MENTAL AGE " START FROM 40 ( IN THIS AGE, MOHAMAD, WAS A PROPHET BY ALLAH ) SO, I COUND NOT DO ANYTHING WHEN I WAS YOUNGER AND NO ONE LISTEN TO ME. I HOPE MAKE OUR COUNTRY AGAIN WHEN WE PASS OF MULLAS. MAYBE YOU KNOW OUR COUNTRY, IRAN IN THE MIDDLE EAST WHERE ITS PEOPLE MOSTLY, DO NOT AGREE WITH THEIR GOVERNMENTS AND WE PREPER FOR A REVOLUTION AGAIN.

+1 yNope, I don’t. I don’t because I don’t want to be dependent on. Not that I’m not dependable because I am I just don’t want the responsibility of being dependent on. I have a child that depends on me 24/7 and if I choose to have more in the future they will be dependent on me. Children are enough for me to know how it feels to be dependent on constantly. Children are fine and it’s enough. I don’t want anymore added responsibility of being charge and being dependent on me from an outsider. Outsider as in a coworker or sometimes even a friend who looks up to me to take charge. I not only have my child that is dependent on me to take charge but I also have my mom’s health that I take charge in as well. I’m a simpleton, I will be responsible when I have to but I’d rather not have loads of responsibilities. Call me lazy but I just like to not have to constantly worry about others so much unless they mean the absolute world to me (some friends are on that list as well but I even have a small circle of close friends that mean the world to me). I also have my own life I need to take charge in. A part of me is also really scared that if I am in control, in charge and extremely dependent upon then I will massively screw things up on an irreparable level. I don’t know why I get this way but it’s an anxiety that I have. When it comes to my child, it’s really different though.
On the other hand, I don’t like anyone to take charge of me. When it comes to myself, I am my own leader and no one else can control me unless it comes to my job. Other than that, no one controls me. Maybe the fact that I don’t like anyone to control me is also why I don’t like to take charge and control others.
*Side note: I don’t like anyone to control me because I’ve been in a controlling abusive relationship in the past so it does stem from a past trauma.*10 Reply

+1 yNope, in fact when I was at my last job I was a charge nurse, which is kind of the like the shift supervisor and I hated it. I like the be a good team member, but I don't necessarily like to be the one that tells all the other workers what their assigment is for that shift. There will always be someone who thinks they are the one always getting the crappy assignment, or that the charge nurse is out to get them. Or they think someone else is getting special treatment, or they try to use your kindness against you. Then there are all these little "fires" you have to put out with everything else going on, somehow upper management is never satisfied with the decisions that you make. Yeah, not for me.

+1 ySort of? I don’t get anything out of the power dynamic, I just don’t like being the one having to do the actual labor, lmao. So I’d much rather manage a team of people who actually “do stuff”, and I “don’t do stuff” and just see to it that the task is carried out. Only problem is that so many people are idiots, and I often find that I end up having to do, or re-do, things myself in order for them to be done correctly. But if I could actually trust people to do their jobs correctly after only being told one time, that’s my ideal work situation. Show up, make sure everyone is there, give everyone their tasks for the day, and then sit in a chair somewhere and just periodically check in😂

10 Reply 314 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yes 🙌 coz I have. I like to lead but at the same time delegate responsibilities and give credit where it’s due… I like to brainstorm and get everyone to work together to a common goal. It’s nice to see people coming together… And they trust you.

+1 yNo, but I do end up leading often just because no one else wants to and I'd rather see things done than be stuck waiting forever.
Leading people is stressful and I am not a natural at it.
That said, if I have the right team, I think I'd be fine leading. I just don't think I'd last a long time. I'm the type to deflect praise off me onto the team (because honestly they probably did all the heavy lifting) and will gladly take the fall instead of them (because, to me, that's what a leader does - protect their people).
I don't know. I'll lead if no one else will, but it's not something I enjoy.10 Reply
+1 yI answer no. I dont desire to "be in charge". I do however, desire change and making things better, which naturally puts me in charge of other people.
I hate managers who think, because they have the title of "boss" or "manager", it automatically entitles them to respect. It doesn't. One can be a leader and not a manager, and a manager and not a leader.
All too common those in charge enjoy delegating responsibility. But delegation is a management principle, not a leadership principle. Good leaders are always responsible.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yAuthority is a burden I have had to carry most of my life. With authority comes responsibility, not just got your own actions, but for the actions of those in your charge.
To maintain authority you must be a leader, you must be willing to do what you must to get those in your charge to go further, faster, and do better than they otherwise would not if left to their own devices. You must be able to get them to do things they normally would not.
To be a good leader you have to have the ability to inspire, rather than motivate by fear. That is exhausting. Furthermore a good leader never takes the accolades for success, those are passed down to those below them, instead they only accept the blame for failure.
So, no, I don't want to be a leader, or in a position of authority. Unfortunately it is thrust upon me.

+1 yPeople who want to be "in charge" of others are basically acknowledging a fact that managers do little or no work yet they make money off the backs of subordinates. In truth, you could replace most managers with a trained monkey and the outcomes wouldn't change. Being a manager is like being in the mob and having a 'no show' job from racketeering. When you think "manager" , you should really envision Paulie from the Sopranos
01 Reply- +1 y
I agree in the sense that many managers are terrible and dont know how to lead. But being a manager myself, i can tell you so many people bitch about management yet will do nothing to change or even outeight resist the changes to make things better. So if management sucks, rather than bitch, do something about it
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI hilariously became a boss for four years because I was sick of being assigned in one particular area at work and the only way to get out of that was to be the boss. Getting into the position and being in charge of nearly 200 people was a challenge that I soon took on with open arms because being at the top allowed me to LISTEN to my staff and actually implement changes that helped them do their jobs better. I genuinely cared every single day I was at that job about making us the best team possible and how to improve upon that. Being in charge means you're no longer a spectator on the sidelines---that's a powerful feeling that I never got as an employee.

At work... It's not that I get off on being in charge - but I am a good manager and know how to run a big team (kindly) and keep clients happy and get job done.
At home, I take back seat or work together
In bed - I want him to be in charge. Take me

+1 yNot at all. I prefer a role where I assist the leader/manager.
I'm currently a coordinator, which is basically a step under supervision. I'm fine with that: you still make decisions and help others, without the stressors associated with managing others.
Plus, most managers tend to be salaried: no thanks! That's how they trap you: working whenever they tell you with no paid overtime? NO. Sometimes the title isn't worth it.20 Reply Been a manager and owner and to be honest it's hard work, stress and just not worth it. The worry that goes with the responsibility of the business and the well being of my staff had an adverse effect on my health. I used to wake up with heart palpitations through worry.
Not again. Work to live not live to work.

+1 yDepends on what it is. I can lead, but that doesn't mean I always want to do it. There are days I just want to assist and be a window licker over making every decision and fielding issues that pop up or disagreements on how things should be done.
00 Reply I've been a manager for over 10 years, it's extra work, but what has satisfied me over time was mentoring my span and helping them with getting the highest monetary raises to better their lives faster. You'd hear in 1:1s what they are planning in life after getting that first post-college job, and helping them reach their goals is something to come home feeling good about.
00 Reply23.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I ran a department with 8 or 9 people in it. They were all good employees and got along with them all. Still it was hard to deal with them sometimes and this time around I wanted a job where I just worked on networks and not worry about other people.
00 ReplyNah but I kinda was thinking you meant like ruling over people like a king or something. People should have free will and I wouldn't want to impose on that. Again I'm thinking dictator. In a rolo like that I'd want it to be more of a republic. I got good ideas and policies don't get me wrong. Basically I'm saying I wouldn't be oppressive or evil.
If you mean leading people yeah I can.00 Reply- 345 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.

Other day I told a guy to finish a machine he started building. Guy went to union saying I harassed him. For asking him to finish the job he’s supposed to do. Fuck people.

Can you even lead yourself? Seriously? Can you? Most people cannot and so the leaders we have are usually trash.
3.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I prefer to be part of a team. Work to better the group, not me, or rather better me by being a member of the group that I am bettering. I can lead or be in charge, but I prefer to be an adjunct to the leader. An integral part of the group but not easily noticed.
00 Reply2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. In a work environment? Was for a period and it was rewarding in that I could achieve more with a team. However managing people is a lot of work and is difficult (because people are difficult) but not well rewarded salary wise.
