If you had to choose, would you rather raise a physically or mentally disabled child?

Yes I know a NORMAL child is what everyone wants but if you had to pick which would you pick?

- A physically disabled child in a wheelchair. Will always need you or a nurse to bathe them.

- A mentally disabled child. Can't focus, can't stay still, disruptive, challenging, hyperactive, defiant, problematic indoors and outdoors, don't listen and overall a nuisance who will likely need meds and behavioral therapy.

i work as a nurse to physically and mentally disabled children. I would never wish it upon my worst enemy. It is truly the worst job in the world, as a parent. To have to see your child in that terrible condition and also to care for it 24/7 for the rest of your life- it will really rob you of your life. I have met some moms who can't leave the house for 7 days because they couldn't find anyone who can help with taking care of their disabled child. I have seen mothers lose their careers. Moms trapped next to their child like a prison. These kids need constant supervision, for the rest of their lives. Not many people realize how hard caring for them really is

A mentally disabled person might still be able to work as a dish washer, so you won't starve to death if you are mentally disabled, you might just be unable to vacation in Tokyo or Amsterdam, and you might have to date a cashier or janitor, instead of a math professor or aerospace engineer.

So being moderately disabled is not dangerous if you live in a country where employment is easy to find.

It is just inconvenient, because you have to eat peanuts instead of hazelnuts during your holiday parties.

But if you are physically disabled, you might go hungry, even if you are smart.

I think it depends on where we raise this child, raising them in a society with little to no infrastructure for handicap, mental or physical, in general, is seriously aggravating.

Also, in the mental case, it's not clear if you ask about cognitive deficit, genetic disease or disorders, because it's really not the same thing to deal with down syndrome, schizophrenia or ADHD...

I think mentally disabled. When you described mentally disabled you described a toddler😂😂 im hoping and praying mine gets better but he's not that bad. Just some days are worse then others

ODD etc will always act that way until getting help and even with that it's not guaranteed. So that's what I meant by mentally disabled.

I feel like a physically disabled child might be a little easier... they will be more quiet. But you'd have to bathe, Clothe, feed, carry carry carry a large load. These are both very hard questions to answer lol

Your description of mentally disabled is wrong, that's not a mental disability. Mental disability is more severe.
