Now before I start getting called names. Cause people never seem to read the description. I have no dislike or hatred toward those born mentally disabled.
But with how I am in my life. I don't think I would be able to. Im not emotionally or mentally strong enough to have to be on 24/7 over a child. Without it draining me.
Yes I guess im a weak person. And im not saying some are just born strong and others not. Of course parents of those kids also struggle. But they love them. Im refering to a situation where it isn't your child. But you tasked with caring for a seriously mentally disabled child.
Do you think you would be able to do it. I carry not hate towards those who do or don't. Im just curious if others feel that how they are atm wouldn't be able to do it.
I have friends who's child has severe down syndrome and I can barely manage when they visit. To make sure he isn't picking up this or throwing that. They do their best. But I cannot imagine being able to do that for most of my day and week.
Since it includes health problems too and I feel I wouldn't be good enough for the child and It would slowly crack me inside.
What is your viewpoints? Please avoid hate. As I said. Doesn't mean I hate or dislike his kids. I care about them and they deserve better and all the help they need. But I dont think I would be able to.

Would you be able to care for a heavily mentally disabled child?
If I had a mentally disabled son or daughter, sure I would take care of the kid. But there are two things, my work routine is intense (I don't have much time to spare) and I'm not so really good at taking care of others. I'd pay for it, I think the mother probably would face a lot of trouble over that task if there's no maids.
Now considering your example, I'd keep myself as far away from any duty to children that isn't even mine, even more if they need a special care that I can't offer. It's not my duty, and there's no way that kind of task be left to me.
Don't blame yourself, life for young people is more concerning, uncertain and stressful nowadays. Many don't have the mood for a such kind of responsibility.
I'm very weak to this misery part of life. But if I would have such cold I would have to comply and adapt. Human can sustain much so just following right path is the key.

Personally, yes I would. If it was my own child if it was a relative even if there was no relation at. I would hope to ideally have an idea of what the child's condition is and maybe what known things things the child likes and doesn't like and things to look out for medically. But I would certainly care for a child for either the short term or long term. For me once I am in the room with any person who requires a special approach or attention I just switch into that gear and mindset. I have done some animal therpy with child who have all different levels in severities of disability and it was some of the most rewarding work I have done. I hope continue and expand on that in the future.
Yes I think I would. Everyone is different but from the kids I have worked with I did alright. I’ve volunteered at churches in the disabled department multiple times, and watched over many mentally disabled kids. From there I moved to taking care of them while horse back riding, for horse therapy. I did better with the kids than the horses😂. I don’t know how I would do long term but I have been told I have most of the quality’s to. I need to further my medical knowledge though. But for the most part my answer is yes. I love all kids to death
I'm not sure. When discussing it with my boyfriend, he's said he doesn't think he could. He says he'd like to but he thinks it would just be too much of a struggle and he doesn't think it'd be fair on the child. I would like to say that I could do it but honestly, I don't know. I don't think I'm strong enough to be able to.
As a parent, you are going to do whatever you can for the child. You won't know until that time comes. There are a lot of challenges and can be stressful. My son isn't disabled of any kind, but I know of he was - making sure he was well taken care of would be my top priority.
No... since I have to work to feed myself, let alone another person. And affording help would be economically impossible... So no...
Life is difficult as it is, having a heavily disabled child seems like a real curse - as well as a blessing - but neither of which many people can afford.
No, if i were pregnant and tests would say it’s disabled, i’d have an abortion.
I’d rather have a furfilled life and happy, healthy kids than totally neglecting a child because I wouldn’t be able to take care of it mentally and having to plan around that child.
Also, if you have other kids, you are putting that burden on them as well.
It’s not that I can’t hut I wouldn’t want to. I already know that I wouldn’t like the kid and would view them as an inconvenience so I wouldn’t even put myself in that position
Personally I dont think I could do it 24/7 I work with children with special needs and as much as I love them its a very tiring job I couldnt do it all day.
It happens normally, and yeah i would still be around him as normally he's my child i would do anything to make him feel better have even better education than me, to have a more successful life than me
I'm pretty much the same as you. I am not the right person to do this. I'd rather admit that then unintentionally have them suffer because I don't know what I'm doing.
Of course I would be able to. Of Course it would be a lot more work but I would cherish the challenge and be rewarded with unconditional love by that child.
