Why are women’s issues so often dismissed as ‘just jealousy’?

Like I remember one of my bosses would talk down to my colleague.

Of course if the colleague tried to tell anyone they'd probably not listen as the power dynamic.

So why don't people listen? Just because someone is in power doesn't mean they're a good person.

The boss was not jealous of the colleague but definitely the type of person who would put someone down to feel superior.

Also the colleague was a good target as she was very tiny, meek and young (it was an internship for her so she was 19)

Because in matter of power, good, bad, ugly or any kind of moral don't exist.
Another thing is that people in power see in every other person a potential threat. If they are slightly paranoid, you can use for your advantage but it can turn bad for you if you appear too smart or too ambitious.
Learn few things. Working in such toxic environment isn't democracy or popularity competition. You have to appear useful and obedient without appearing weak. Like a soldier, this is the type of persons people in power accept and need.

Yeah, that is common for people in power to assert it so people know they are. It is an ego thing, I think.
