It's naïve.

I see no reason to be "respectful" to a rapist, racist or serial killer - regardless of their beliefs.

The quote should actually read "No matter how different your beliefs may be, you should never be unjust" As that is more correct and reasonable. You don't need to interact with people you don't like. But when you have to, don't treat them wrong and fall outside of moral bounds.
